Read Arendts books, and read about the methods used by Hitler and his associates to win elections and morph the morality of the German people. Your side is far closer to those methods than conservatives.

 

Arendt wrote primarily about totalitarianism (the title of one of her books) and the relationship between mankind and evil, and was focused on why people and governments engage in evil and violence, and the relationship between people and the state.

The US is currently in essentially a political civil war between socialists ("progressives" who want ever bigger govt and wealth redistribution) and people who value the American traditions of personal freedom (conservatives). The socialists are in power and are transforming America into their big govt vision using unconstitutional and illegal methods. Its starting to impact peoples everyday lives and the fight is showing signs of moving beyond politics.
