To empathize with my perspective picture someone making that argument in favor of normal theft - the sort not sanctioned by the scribble of a politician or the consensus of the mob.

That comment doesn't make any sense. Do you want to try again?

They will still come because even as an unemployed person with no welfare, life in a wealthy developed nation (like Australia) is considerably better than in a poor and dysfunctional one. Also, I dont think Australians would like to give up their entitlements, not should they. Even normal theft is just when it is used to satisfy basic human needs and there is no alternative.

The solution is strict border and immigration control. You know, actually enforcing a basic responsibility of every state. Open borders are economically and socially unsustanable in the long term.

Our gaols are paradise compared to the "living" conditions where a lot of these people come from. Who could blame them for wanting to come here? They have nothing to lose, and boat people are the rich ones. Billions of people couldn`t even dream of how well we live in this country. They wouldn`t even be capable of imagining things that we take for granted.

If the boats aren`t stopped permanently, the potential is there, waiting in hoards of human misery, for people smuggling to grow into a massive disaster. Without really solving anything but for a select few. I can`t help but think that if the resources spent on this mess were effectively directed to other humanitarian endeavours, how much human misery could have been alleviated.

The Federal Government released a report stating there was an estimated 800,000 Australians on public housing waiting list through out Australia. Couple that with the estimated 300,000 homeless, and we have 1.1million Australians waiting for low income public housing. Port Macquarie actually close the waiting list for public housing in their area, quoting: the list is long, and the properties so scarce, that the majority of people would be dead before they are allocated a property.

If we have a 1.1 million property shortage in Australia for individuals and families on low income & homeless requiring public housing, how & where are we finding public housing accommodation to house these 10,000 refugees that come to Australia every year? I feel sorry for refugees, but don't Australian citizens who have been on waiting lists for years deserve these properties before refugees?

    Well well well,
the scare that is created by painting the darkest picture obviously never ends.....
Why don't you stop reving about refugees (Australias intake is extremly small compared to other nations)and start asking the most obvious question: How come that a block of land is 150 or 200k, with at least one hours drive away from our main cities? How come, that simplistic homes like ours are at least 150k plus?
Our country is huge, there is land vastly on hands, but never cheap. Who is behind all the developers and so forth?
    Regards

The infered question, which you failed to answer, was, "Why are we providing homes for thousands of self proclaimed refugees ahead of the many thousands of Australians in need of a home"? Now two more questions. If the homes are there why haven't they been given to Australians already? If the homes are being created for the refugees why haven't they been created for Australians?

The intelligent people of Australia now understand that politicians are the biggest squanders of tax payers money, either by spending this money on "their" own personal junkets, or by spending the money on useless, crappy projects & schemes that have little to no value for the citizens.

As the Victorian State Government discovered with Gillard's $1 billion NDIS. After reviewing the documents, they found that $800,000 million of the money was going to pay administration costs of the scheme, and $200,000 left to pay everything else like: equipment, carers, support staff, vehicles, administration equipment. Gillard dedicated $800,000 million of tax payers money on permanent jobs for her bureaucrat "buddies" that was suppose to be used to directly help Australia's disable people.

I know your are a bit scared to answer the question, because then you have to face-up to reality, and the reality is - Australian tax payer pay for the building of public housing to house low income Australians, but refugees are taking these public properties away from Australian citizens that is funded by the Australian tax payers.

An even better question. "Why are Australian tax payers funding public housing homes, and the building of public hosing properties to house refugees, and "NOT" Australian citizens who are homeless?

Politicians whinge & whine about not being enough tax payers money around to build enough public housing homes for everyone, but these scum-bags can certainly find money when they need, like $100K + junket to fly 10 of them from Perth to Canberra instead of taking a commercial flight, or can find $12 billion to give to the Reserve Bank - a bloody bank for Gods sake. Then they come back to the slaves, and demand the slaves have to work longer until we are 65, and have to give up more of our salaries in taxes just to pay for their junkets and incompetence with OUR tax money - then the stupid bloody people keep voting these same scum-bags back into power, so they can keep screwing us over, time & time again.

FMD, no wonder politicians are confident and comfortable in lying to our faces and laughing in our faces. They know we just bend over and take it - without even a "sigh" these days.

Because the refugees need a place to live too. They are such a small number to worry about, maybe only small minds worry about small things.

There is only ONE PROBLEM with housing and that is greed, oh I mean NEGATIVE GEARING

Um No I see myself .... why... you are starting to worry me...who do you see? Nothing to do with the topic, but why when we look in a mirror it is reversed left to right, but not top to bottom?

Because we have a responsibility towards refugees as well, and not all of them are economy migrants. Don't you get this?

The biggest question remains, we have land in abundance, our homes aren't state of the art, but simplistically built, so why are they so expensive, and who is behind all this?

Refugees are only taking up a small numbers of houses, but you make them look like giants. Not to difficult to see your agenda. Can you tell us where your fear and/or hatred is coming from? Tone doing a good job, isn't he?.....

Refugees taking 10,000 public housing homes from Australian citizens "every year" is NOT a small number of houses. If you are willing to open your mind, and consider there are 1.1 million Australians on waiting lists to get public housing homes - not to mention the 300,000 homeless Australians who don't have any shelter at all.

I have no fear or hate, but when our country has limited resources like public housing, then why the hell are the tax payers of Australia supporting public housing for refugees, and not their own citizens. That's a question you should be asking yourself.

If you are so in favour of refugees having homes before Australian citizens, then why don't you lead by example, and give up your home to a refugee family, and move into a tent or garage, just like you are asking and expecting other Australians on public housing waiting lists to do?
