The only reason the north has "more money" is because of politics.

    Southerners, lazy? Surely you jest.

That's exactly what should happen. They can still trade, travel, and maintain diplomatic relations with each other while being politically independent, just like the the US and Canada.

well there we have it, "the poll" indicates States should be allowed to vote to succeed from the U.S. Republic. It is clear now that we States in the U.S. have less rights than Scotland has. Seems Governor Perry's idea not so far fetched after all. The Socialism/Communist ideology will be the ultimate downfall of our Republic. As I have said before, we could be leading up to another civil war(just as the middles east) if we don't elect a President and a Congress that wants to preserve the Republic.

"Its starting to seem like the USA is too divided to be governed effectively" this is the foolishness you get from people who went to public schools. when you learn about history you will learn that we mericuns have always been a contentious lot. Part of the reason the japs and krauts declared war on us is for that very fact.

Here is what would happen with that. Lets say......Texas suceeded. It would probably be controlled by conservative, constitutional-oriented folks...meaning less government intrusion. What THAT means is that the welfare system would change from a comfortable way of life, to more of a measure to help people "get by' while" they look for ways to be self-sufficient.

Texas would put a strong border between it and Mexico--not that a lot of illegals would be wanting to head into Texas anyway, because in Texas they would have to be upheld to standards before they were citizens. Be able to prove they can make a living, will learn the language and put their loyalties to Texas.

So what would happen is that illegals would head into the United States, and a welfare class would move from Texas into the United States. With this change of demographics---you would have a very resentful United States.

So it would be interesting to know what happened next.

    Just a paradoxical provocation ...

Yes, first of all, a nice referendum in Washington DC could decide for the secession of the White House from the rest of the Union ... imagine a Union without Federal central government ...

By not allowing states to leave the freedom of association is infringed, something no group of black robed authoritarians have a moral justification to impose upon others.

There are some things that make secession complicated in today's age. On the bright side, any state that secedes also secedes from the huge national debt. But on the more complicated side, anyone receiving federal payments like Social Security, food stamps, etc. could be at risk of losing them, if not reinstated by the state. But overall, I do think secession will needed if Democrats further increase their destructive stranglehold on the nations' policies.

Frankly they should leave. I want to live under the US Constitution. Lefties, by and large, do not. If anyone should go it should be them.

I agree, but I don't think the constitution gave us a mechanism for expelling a state from the union.

I say give Texas, New Mexico and Arizona back to the Mexicans; those states are lost anyhow, so it wouldn't make much difference.
