US military operations in Iraq, including airstrikes and surveillance flights, have cost about $560 million since mid-June, the Pentagon said Friday. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/29/us-iraq-security-usa-costs-idUSKBN0GT21D20140829 And that's not all. Obama is going to start the full combat operations in that region. Again. Hello, increasing of budget deficit!
I'm more concerned with how Obama is actually doing this. I don't remember hearing Congress authorizing force. So if this is something Obama is doing for right now, the War Powers act is going to come up sooner or later which means that Congress is going to get involved.
WHY? why do we do this? It is good money after bad. We spend billions on a bunch of ********s that should be defending themselves. It is a never ending money down the rat hole deal. We should pull our troops and equipment out of this sand bog (*)(*)(*)(*)hole and let them kill each other off. It is is just plain stupidity by the Liberals and the Conservatives.
It is not our place to police the damn planet. We should not be sticking our nose into every pissing contest in the World. It is not our place to force our Democracy on other countries. It is our business to defend and protect our way of Government and our Freedom and our citizens..
That amount of money is almost nothing relative to previous military engagements. 2 Billion a year ? Heck, we were spending that much per day on Iraq and Afghanistan.
If the US is still using Patriot Missiles...these ALONE cost $1 to $6 million each! Sidewinder Missiles cost $650K each! What does it cost for military personnel, military support, aircraft carriers, fighter jets, fuel and maintenance, supplies, medical care, and life-long veteran's benefits? I don't believe the $7.5 million cost per day??
Here here!! An intelligent being on a political forum. We agree sir. This is certain insanity. We are going deeper into debt, and the elites are getting even richer from these military actions. Empires fall by over extending themselves, yet non of the dems or repubs read much history.
