Republicans Weigh Government Shutdown to Stop Obama on Amnesty

And three times, now, I've explained a SPECIFIC way the President could act by executive action....telling the 12,000 immigratio agents to go to "deferred action" on children immigrants.

And three times, you've been unable to show a means by which the GOP could stop him...EXCEPT to totally de-fund the ENTIRE CIS budget....which we both know they wouldn't or even couldn't do.

You simply can't accept an ugly truth....the GOP can't stop Obama without doing two things they have SCREAMED that they WON'T do......Government Shutdown or impeachment.

Asking you....how did the LAST Government Shutdown (Oct. 2013) work out for the GOP....did they "win" and de-fund Obamacare? How were their polls during the Shutdown?

"The American people HATE Obamacare....they'll support Republicans funding everything but Obamacare.....if the Government gets shutdown, they'll blame only Obama and the Democrats!!!"

First, the GOP response to Obama's anticipated order. The only thing Republicans will do in the lame duck session — that is, before they take control of the Senate, and keep control of the House, in January — is to make sure a short-term government funding bill is passed by the time the current one expires on Dec. 11.

Then in January, with the GOP in control — and, presumably, Obama's edict in hand — Republicans will work on crafting a new spending measure that funds the entire government, with the exception of the particular federal offices that will do the specific work of enforcing Obama's order.

Obama better start working with the GOP if he is going to salvage anything at all for his legacy which so far is nothing more than he has surpassed Jimmy Carter as being the worst President in modern times. Oh and the biggest liar of all time. Not exactly a legacy I would want

 

It's just about time for them to whack the economy again. Consumer confidence has almost recovered from the pummelling it took from the last Repbulican Govt shut down:



GDP growth has averaged over 4% real the last two quarters.

Can't have the economy doing too well. That might help Obama and the Democrats, right?

As for the economy, perhaps you can point to some economic indicator that isn't greatly improved since Obama took office.

Unemployment is below 6%.
the stock market is at record levels.
gas is cheaper than its been in 8 years.
interest rates remain ridiculously low.
the housing market is rapid expanding.
the deficit keeps going south
US oil production has reversed a 40 year trend of decline
Manufacturing recovered faster than other recessions.
Retail sales have completely recovered and growing strongly.


republicans continually whinge about how lousy the economy is yet, even when the evidence stares them in the face that the economy isn't the basketcase they'd like to believe it is, the simply regurgitated the partisan mantra.

 

I can tell you for sure that there are border patrol agents all over the landscape. I see more border patrol agents than city and county cops these days. They are thicker'n flies.

I've often mentioned the Rightwing "memory hole" (as Orwell noted in "1984")...how they can flush entire portions of HISTORY down it.....forget it ever happened....even DENY that it ever happened....and be convinced to support the SAME IDENTICAL action...and be told the results will be different. (Remember the definition of "insanity")

Under the tutelege of Rightwing Media hosts....they are convinced that October 2013 never happened....not even that somehow the GOP "won" back then....but that it never even occurred or certainly "Won't happen NEXT time...everything's different now...we promise!"

Part of it is the duplicity of those Rightwing hosts....they don't care if a Government Shutdown blows up in the faces of the Republicans (a goal Democrats certainly share).....it makes for good ratings for them.

But the other part is this "self-imposed amnesia" of their audience....who can be convinced to ignore history and reality.

Eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs and enforce austerity to keep wages, spending and demand down:

Personally, I'm hoping they crash the markets, downgrade our credit rating to C++, and eventually cause widespread looting.

 

Most of that is in-spite of President Downgrade, not because of him.

And gas is not cheaper now than in the past 8 years.
