I live in rural Australia with lots of Lib voters. But even they have enough of this totally embarrassing free of any vision Messiahs, Quick Fix Tony Abbott!

I think the Australian people are quite tolerant and can handle a few hick ups and forgive for them, however under the worst government in our history, even his own followers have enough.....

Some hoped that after Rudd/Gillard it can only get better and improve, well they are facing a different scenario now. Under Abbott, even lies are redefined......

Your posts at the time dont reflect that gwen.
the so called "abuse" that was directed at her was that she should be taken out to sea and drowned in a chaff bag. So i guess that the "pm's should be respected" stance only stands for left wing female pm's that have criminality to hide?

But to be fair, the ALP don't say anything about the 10% the public still own in Telstra, whereby all the 100% profits of that 10% are dedicated to "securing" public servants superannuation - including politicians superannuation.

The public get "no such" guarantee on THEIR superannuation.

The fix is in. And the mainstream media is all over it. I avoid News Corp but even Fairfax has been busy holding up Julie Bishop as the next PM when Abbott is removed. Trouble is it won't work, she's a lightweight and still an ideologue and she will not pull the Tories out of the hole they're so busy digging. At least she won't get the same treatment Gillard did though. The Left doesn't have Alan Jones and other other screaming idiots who pass for radio show presenters. I can't see Faine calling for the chaff bag for Julie B or the other disgusting noises the Right made towards Gillard.

Interesting scenario, Bishop to replace Abbott.
As it stand now, Abbott will lose next election. The Liberals won't like and allow that, thus they have to act.
    Rudd/Gillard all over again?
Of course, they (Libs) will invent justified reasons......

How is replacing one circus clown with another circus clown, ever been to the benefit of the Australian people. You will be surprise how many fall for it, just like they did with Rudd & Gillard.

Future funds that benefit politicians. It wasn't a certain amount from the sale of Telstra that went into the future fund to secure 'their" superannuation. Its the 10% of Telstra that is still owned by the Australian public - but the Australian public get no financial benefit from that 10% they own.

The 10% of Telstra that the Australian people still own is a future fund set up by politicians to guarantee politicians superannuation. The Australian people STILL own 10% of telstra.

So the poodle doesn't get his supposed-wish. Some vital changes, hits to regional Australia deplorable and government responsible. Yeah, this vile government - responsible for 400 people losing their jobs before Christmas.

After the drubbing Bishop copped for her rebuke to Putin that the Barrier Reef is going along fine under the care of the LNP, I don't think they will anoint her. I feel they need a cleanskin that hasn't be outed as a deceiter.

    Gwen,
this government has so little to offer, they are concerned ABC/SBS are broadcasting the truth, so what better way in shutting them down?
That was the first go, others will follow.
Murdoch is much more on line with Abbott, it appears logic what the Libs are doing with ABC right now.
Hitler did it, and other dictators....To them a radio station or TV program makes only sense, if they broadcast what the dictator says!!!!
Australia is losing so much right now, what a pity. ......A damage beyond repair.....
    regards

How many suggestions for PMs to be taken out to sea in a chaff bag have been made? One, directed at Julia Gillard.

I objected to the sexism directed at Julia Gillard as was incredibly detailed here. It SHOULDN'T be R-rated, but such was the sexist vileness directed at her.

You do your share of being critical (putting it mildly) so go follow your own advice.

I couldn't agree more, m2catter. It's really saddening the way they're ripping at the social structures... and coinciding with the death of the greatest social reformer ever, Gough Whitlam.

I saw a wonderful section on ABC News online the other day, it was a place for Australians to pay tribute to their lost loved one's. I teared up and what a lovely idea / gesture it was. Another reason I dislike commercial TV compared to the 'extraordinariness' of public broadcasters.

We've lost Elsies Refuge which was started in 1974 after this governement cut its funding.

We've lost an extraordinary disability discrimination commissioner in Graeme Innes after this government cut funding.

The ripping at the social structures is disgusting.

Let's pray it's not a damage beyond repair.

LOL, I still havent seen anything sexist which Abbott said. Gillard used misogyny as a scapegoat for fair criticism on her incompetance.

'Seeing' is optional, clearly. His sexist comments have been reported often enough. If you can't 'see' the sexism, well, perhaps there's a reason... that relates to you.

Yea well that goes both ways so it doesn't add much..... and given the state of the media these days something being reported is quite irrelevant to truth.
