I do not say that use of Russian is criminalized. I say that the first thing that new Parlament did was an issue of a project to change the status of Russian language. And Russian speaking people did not like that. If this is propaganda, then mass media in Czech republic were bought by Putin.

Why in Switzerland not only German is used in official paperwork? Why Italian with the minority of italian people living is Switzerland is also official language?

Because italian and german form a unity. The european union. Russians are not european. Ukraine wnats to be part of europe. Why should it accept an enemy language?

This article reports the abolishment of the language law. I can not find one fact in this article, which isn't true. Have you read this article? Where is the lie?

Switzerland is not part of the European Union. Italian is no official language in Germany. German may be official language in parts of Italy, even though there was an Italianization politics of mixed Areas in the 1930-ties. Russians are not European? What are they then? Asians? Only like two thirds of Ukrainians are native Ukrainian speakers. This has to do with history, and is partially a result of Russification during different periods.

so you now admit that Ukraine didn't ban Russian from everyday speech, just for use by govt. for official reasons.

    good.

    - - - Updated - - -

you have no evidence that speaking Russian has been banned.

Vetoed, but never took back. The Maidan governments did not resolve the language problem. Maidan is Ukrainian nationalist, who tries to act somehow liberal to get money from the West.
Just because they failed with the official law, they probably showed the direction to the local administrations. Illegal pressure or dismissing people will probably do the rest.

a bill doesnt become a law if its vetoed.

President either signs a bill to make it a law, or he vetoes it.

This bill never became law, it was vetoed.

Language law stands as it was signed in 2012.

The President did more, he wanted to have a working group to write a new language law.
    http://en.apa.az/news/207783

... but there is no new language law ,,,

Ok, it took Germans/Austrian/Swiss years and years to write a German language spelling reform ...

But if this topic is so important for the Maidan parliaments, that they address it in their first session, why don't they get a new law?

Maybe because they can go their way without using laws?

The 2012 language law was never repealed.

Russian can still be used for all govt. purposes in Ukraine.

Switzerland has a lot of contracts with the EU, which makes them something very close to an EU member. They take part in the sanctions against Russia. Switzerland is a militarly neutral country, politically and economically it is not.

German is a language, which is protected in Ukraine by law. I just read this. There are more Germans in Ukraine than Crimean Tartarians in Crimea. Who would have thought this?

If neo Nazi from Lvov would be able to rule in Ukraine long enough, those Germans will have to learn "mova" or move to Germany.

This is not true. The italian was official language in Switzerland long before Italy and Germany united in EU. And by the way, Switzerland itself is not in EU. So your argument does not work. Less, that Ukraine is much closer in culture, traditions to Russia, than to the rest of Europe.

Obviously the large majority in Ukraine want be part of EU. Russia has nothing to offer. Switzerland is bound into the EU. I can understand why Ukraine wants to be part of EU. Look at russia and its satellites like Belarus. Poland went whealthy in the EU. Russia and Belarus and all around basicly stayd at the bottom. Russia simply offers nothing. No concept, no future. Simply nothing.

The question is not what EU or Russia can offer Ukraine, but what Ukraine can offer EU.

Merkel, a former agent of the East German State Security STASI (codename "IM Erika") and the chief of the former KGB bureau in Rostock/East Germany (Vladimir Putin) are criticized by the most diehard Stalinist communist among German politicians: Sarah Wagenknecht. The German saying is: one hare asks another hare: "Why do you have such long ears?".

The EU offers the people of Ukraine, high taxes, big cuts in pensions and welfare, police oppression, chaos, war, and the opportunity for most pretty Ukraine girls to become sex slaves for rich EU/Saudi/Israeli guys.

Markus, there is nothing "obvious" about "majority" of Ukrainians wanting to be in NATO. This is the core of the entire problem and cause of the civil war in Ukraine. To large and important provinces already broke away, as a result of the coup, and more to come.
