What have you got against back alley sales of guns with the serial numbers filed off, without any sort of background or age check?

But in places like here in Australia you have to know someone who knows someone who might have that kind of gun

That reduces yours odds of actually acquiring one by a great deal - unless of course you want to go the shortcut and sign up with a gang (Bike or otherwise) and just join the underground crime world while signing your are over to the local drug lord

 

Of course - imprisoning people who own an item generally reduces the pool from which said item can be stolen.

 

They only go to prison if they have broken the law

 

newsflash for you. 90+% of crime is NOT violent, and 3/4 of it is victimless (ie, dope, guns, prostitution, gambling, etc). why aint JUST the violence enough to get them a life sentence, hmm? it's good enough to shoot them to death for, on the spot. So why aint it enough to give them life for? Me, I'm for closing all the prisons and just using horsewhipping, first 2 times, if it's not too serious an offense. If it's the 3rd time or really heinous crime, sawed off 410 to the base of the skull. Rubber bag over head to catch the mess. strap them into a chair,and several people pressing buttons at the same time, with a random juice generator disguising the actual initiation of the movemet of the cam that fires the gun.

grinding or filing numbers does not suffice. the number can still be "raised' later by police.. You must centerpunch and drill each numeral, or carefully run over them with Tig welder. when guys steal a gun, there's no need to obliterate the serial number and to do so is a dead giveaway that something is illegal about that sale. Just the simple possession of a gun with a messed over serial number is a 5 year Federal felony. The presumption at law is that the gun's possessor committed the obliteration of the number.

 

Using even that link if true, CCW holders are responsible for 3/10 of a percent of deaths. Even your link says the same thing I did.

There is no interest among the gun grabbers to even know since that is not their agenda.

That makes CCW holders a very small minority of all gun deaths compared to the number of CCW holders. Their study is flawed anyway because they count people from States that don't have CCW license requirements.

 

since there should not BE any license required to defend yourself, the study is not flawed (because of that). The real thing antigunners IGNORE, is the million+ per year times that guns stop crime (without anybody being hit with a bullet, or even a shot fired) I've stopped punks several times, merely by showing them that they were going to get shot if they didn't stop.

 

I have a couple of friends that have also stopped attempted robberies by just showing them their firearm.

 

I was nearly mugged at a drive thru 20 something years ago. Showed him my Dan Wesson, he stopped.

No, you are anti-Rights......you may surrender your Right. Two things, that is your Right to do so, but you have no Right to even suggest that everyone else should do so because you are getting nervous, and you probably shouldn't own. Only people with strong convictions should own. They tend to be more reliable and safer than someone who is read to simply walk their guns down to the police station so they can resell them to the public.
BTW, how much are you asking for the .45?

 

I've thought hard about this. I say if someone dies in the commission of a crime with firearm, sentence should be a televised execution by firing squad. All guns fully loaded.........
