Why don't mass immigrants just sort out their own countries first?

So, why do all those who 'love their country' jump ship - how about they sort out their own first.

I'm talking here about those of darker complexions and East Euros - why not work to get your own countries developed?

The short answer is simply because they can't.

Many of those countries are so tyrannical that any attempt to change things is a death sentence. In many cases the immigrants, with their mindset of seeking and working for better things is one held by a tiny minority - not nearly enough people to bring about meaningful change in a society.

Many of them would love to improve their home countries but are powerless to do so, so they move somewhere where they can at least improve their lives and give their children a better future.

I think they immigrate because the alluring opportunity to come and live amongst such open minded, tolerant, friendly and cosmopolitan people like those continually witnessed here on the PoFo is just too hard to resist.

Look how well educated you are...well read, well fed, well protected, well compensated....what is your reason for not straightening out your country?

East Euro here. We are working on it. Communist dictatorship has thrown us back many decades, but a lot of progress has been made since the fall of communism.

I have only hatred for eastern europeans who immigrate to western nations and then act in a problematic manner. They bring shame to all of us. Dont be be afraid of political correctness and kick them out. But dont be prejudiced to all eastern euros, too.

sounds like a cop out to me - just think, where would the US be today if everyone did that - time for these guys to be encouraged to sort out their own homes

    - - - Updated - - -

what are you on about? - I haven't jumped ship and migrated permanently to another nation

    - - - Updated - - -

ok , but how about all the hordes of Polish etc.. that move to France, Germany, UK just to do low paid unskille d work - wouldn't the effort be better spent on creating opportunity back home?

That's what we were told would happen if we let our factories move to third world countries. They'd have work, and would no longer want to come here. Guess that was a lie, too

Remember its OUR fault Mexico has problems. We forced them to make drugs for us. We forced their govt to take bribes from drug lords. We caused their society to become corrupt. We're just doing our duty now, since we OWE them. Its our obligation to take care of them=)

I guess that depends on the supply and demand for workers in both countries. If country A has lots of unskilled workers and country B has a shortage of them, then it is better for both countries for the workers to migrate. Of course, this is only true up to a point, low skilled native citizens are the most vulnerable group and we wouldnt want to depress their wages too much. The situation where there is too little of low skilled workers does not happen that often since they are the easiest people to find. But in highly developed countries with low unemployment, or in quickly growing regions (cities in China), it can occur for some time.

Also it may be wise to only allow them to come temporarily, so that when the situation reverses and there is again too much of cheap labor you wont be stuck with lots of imported uneducated people to support.

It is basically a combination of laziness and cowardice.

It is not easy to change your own nation and very well may end up with your death. However, America did it, and yes, many died. Cuba did it, and yes, many died. North Vietnam held out against the most powerful military in the world, as did the Colonists in America, and many died but they got their change.

To be fair, there are people in places like Mexico trying to change but they are not unified enough because many people simply would rather take the easier route of going the path of least resistance. Also, to be fair again, massive change usually doesn't happen until it is the only option left.

Cut off illegal immigration and you will find change in places like Mexico, happening much, much faster.

So we're basically enabling these countries by taking in their 'refugees'. I see your point.
