They certainly are and harm can take many many forms (as North Korea proves).
So that's point one. Point two is Obama has lifted sanctions on Cuba and many restrictions without gaining a single meaningful concession, as far as anyone can see.
That's not statesman ship...that's philanthropy from Barry Lightworker Obama to one of the most repressive state's on earth!
The new Congress will have something to say about this all.

What do you WANT from Cuba.. The Russians basically dumped them when the USSR fell apart.. and no longer buy up the Cuban sugar crop.

I would like Cuba to dismantle their police state gulag system of political prisoners and I would like the American felons they are harboring to be returned to US custody.
Otherwise Cuba has nothing of value I care about.

I assume families that were driven from Cuba and had all their wealth and property seized would also like to sue for damages but
    that's a whole other issue.

Their medical system has better outcomes for more people than ours does. It is ranked higher than the us medical system in average outcome.

Agreed. We have a better chance of eliminating Cuba's
police state though. Start small, work your way up.

Cuba self reports and their definitions for the same terms reported hide their real numbers. Cuba is a dictatorship and very authortarian. sure Cuba leads USA in lower infant mortality but it isnt because Cuba has better prenatal care.

This is not a sign of exemplary health care. Syria has better E.R.s

using considerably reliable sources here. theres even more content on cuban-watch websites. you only have good health care in cuba if you're in a high cast and are paid in the CUC. everyone else stuck on the cuban peso live in hell.

Sounds like the CIA has been spending classifieds amount of money denigrating and demonizing Cuba...the rest of the world is not that crazed and voted overwhelmingly in October 2014 to condemn US policy towards Cuba...it has voted this way for two decades ....

Do you really care about Cuba or is this just your latest tantrum? No one can keep up with this stuff from the right wing. One day, someone should list all the daily horrors the white party has screamed about since he announced he was running for POTUS. The list has to be at least 10 pages long. Tomorrow we should see another 1 billion dollar vacation post or maybe a golfing outrage report or perhaps, Obama ignores heartland, flies to island nation to ignore Christianities biggest holiday with fellow Moslems.

please address the sources directly, try to stay credible and leave the coocoo allegations in the coocoo section. i haven't supported the U.S. policy towards Cuba anywhere on this forum, that doesn't mean i cant call people out on their false claims about the country's state. It's a authoritarian dictatorship. No party can nominate a presidential candidate, not even the communist party. Journalism and dissidents risk arrest and are often arrested expressing none approved political views. you can pretend it has great healthcare and its all dandy over there if you want but that is simply not the case.

I would love nothing more then to have another U.S. territory i can go to for cheap booze and resorts and that will never be accomplished without lifting the embargo.

You have no knowledge of Cuba's political system or how it works ...let us agree to your simplistic, antagonistic and slanted view of Cuba as being " a authoritarian dictatorship."...let us say this is so ...so what ? does that stop us from having close trade and relations with Saudi Arabia that cuts off heads, cuts off hands, whips and forbids any opposition to Monarchy ...Saudi Arabia forbids women from driving..get real ...

Cuba will now be treated by the United States as a country worthy of at least as much respect as Washington offers to its highly oppressive, murdering, torturing allies in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Honduras, Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

Oh OK I get it you just want to denigrate and criticize Cuba and Obama while at the same time ignoring the context of Cuba's behavior and simply assuming the total moral superiority of the US system over Cuba something I find absurd...OK I get it the US is exceptional and superior...

I believe we should merely enjoin the Cubans to bear True witness to their supreme law of the land.

Yet when Nixon opened relations with China, we got nothing in return in regards to human rights. We could wait 500 years, and nothing would change if the reactionaries had their way. The attempt to isolate Cuba is a 54 year failed policy. It gets us nothing, will get us nothing and cannot get us anything. It failed. It is an obscene joke. Castro isn't really all that much worse (or better) than the fascist Batista regime that preceded it. Under either regime, the average person was screwed, blued and tattooed, and had no real chance of improving their lot in life. The only real difference was that before Castro, the Mafia and the Sugar barons were the powers that be in Cuba, and their puppet was Batista.
