I don't care how people choose to dress but it irritates me when they then get their thongs in a twist because someone looks or takes a negative view of their choice.

A man showed up for a job interview wearing shorts and rubber sandals. As he was leaving he asked what the next step in the hiring process was and he was told it wouldn't involve him. He thought that was unfair. A woman with one side of he body tattooed from neck down thought the half-body tattoos might have been be reason she didn't get a job. A woman in a transparent blouse and no bra snapped at a guy walking towards her, "What are you staring at?"

Wear what you want and live with it.

Hmmm. I'm trying to imagine what a 'wet burkah contest' would be like. Not nearly as much fun, I'd wager.

That means they've moved on from 1917 where LibWorld is stuck. Of course, as far as I can tell you can't tell very far.*

Modern liberalism is all about the destruction of the traditions that have carried us through the last few centuries.

It seeks novelty, simply for the sake of novelty.

I think the disastrous consequences of childish "experimentation" on a national scale will become apparent soon.

Strawman....I said that taste matters and defines what offends and what does not...I never said a word about dictating anything...that is the universe of the left, not the right. I simply reserve the right to make personal judgement.

When are women going to just call us on our "seriocity" regarding a serious relationship with Equality (in modern times), and insist, if guys can do it in public so can we.

Hmm, trying to figure out if you're serious, or if you're a liberal pretending to be a conservative?

Personally, I think appropriately fitting pants are more modest than most dresses/skirts.

Bikinis are appropriate to wear at the beach.

That's the caricature you guys make of the tea party. Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin doesn't dress the way that the OP would feel to be appropriate. He's a troll, not a real conservative.

Important point - we need a proper, clear definition of a Real Conservative™. Then maybe we can tackle the True Scotsman™ problem.

you cannot legislate your morality and infringe on their right to dress in a way that does not violate city ordinance. What do you want them to wear,? Dreses that go to their ankles? Or would you prefer them barefuoot and naked while slaving in the kitchen?

Can you put $3.5 trillion into some other context than "outrageous". I mean, what should it cost to run a country of 325 million people who want what they want?

Why? I am speaking specifically about those who take a negative view towards a provocatively dressed woman.

My wife is busty and goes bra-less in see-through tops. She does not care if others look as it would be silly to take offense. But on the very rare occasion that someone makes a negative comment she does take offense... and why should she not? We split out time between British Columbia and Washington State where going bra-less or wearing see-through tops if absolutely legal. So if she is not in violation of the applicable laws then I say that the offended need to take the matter up with the mayor, county commissioner, Governor, or the POTUS. If one disagree with a law, do not take it out on those who are following the law, take it out on those who passed the laws and seek to get them changed!

If guys can go topless in public then why should the same not be allowed for women?

I think the OP may have been joking but other posters in here think there's nothing wrong with dictating to women what they must wear....along with everything else they must or must not do in their lives.....rather pathetic to think that happens in the 21st century...but some people just don't want to be dragged out of their caves :)

Just for the sake of asking... but do some people advocate for libertinage in dressing ( and nudity ) because they think freedom is sacred or they just like to watch some beautiful women bodies? If it is the first, you shouldn't mind unattractive people go around naked or dressed in a distasteful way., i'm pretty sure many feminists know what i'm talking about... i like women bodies too but advocating for freedom just for seeing butts and tits is pretty selfish and utilitaristic, to put it ironical.

There is an old rule of thumb, well two. 1st if it isn't for sale don't advertise it. 2nd if one uses one's body as bait to catch the opposite sex you will find that you catch a hell of a lot of two legged rats.

There are many men who are not attracted to women who dress provocatively. Dressy slutty is the surest way to get the attention of the unintelligent, unrefined and unemployed male population. Tattoos on the arms of females and body piercings are also a beacon for losers. It's not rocket science. These women generally get what they are looking for and never seem to learn from it. They live in a world of restraining orders, court appearances and a revolving door of failed relationships.
