people ellect them just to fail the governing party ?The politician of course will not say they are doing so ,but who knows what is in their heart and mind ? why couldn't they supervise but aslo help the governing party and the presidant?

I might not agree with you ,but I will help you to maximize the success of your plan ,and let the next ellection to decide ,is any politician behaving like this ?Or if they do this ,a successful president and governing party will leave them no chance?

I know the importance of the balance of power and the purpose of tripartite political system which China don't have and have many problems .But is it good to go too far ?

I think it tends to be that way. It appears there is quite a bit of cognitive infiltration. They work to keep nonsense threads pinned. They want to make Americans look stupid and easily distracted with nonsense.

Ha ha - the purpose of the opposition party is to derail the party in power.

    There, that was easy. :)

No, the opposition doesn't "help". Never, it never does that. The best one can expect from the opposition is that they don't stand in the way.

There will always be a few individuals who cross party lines or confound the pollsters (or both), but generally speaking if the opposition does nothing then the majority will carry out its agenda.

It gets kind of interesting when you start looking at the things for which the opposition parties have done "nothing", during the reign of the Three Stooges (Clinton, Bush, and Obama).

In a perfect world they would. Sadly, all you have to do is look around to see the world we live in is far from perfect.

The exact same thing can be said about the left. Like pointing your finger at the person in the mirror.

From the replys already you can see that American politic does not work like the theory they teach in school.

The democratic model you suggest is more a Parliamentary Democracy where the Executive, or Prime Minister is chosen by the ruling party. In America we directly elect our President so the Majority party in Congress is often the opposite party of the President. Now the Minority, or opposition party must support either the Majority party in Congress or the President of their own party. In Congress, the two houses also function independent of one another. It has been common for one party to control one house and the opposition control the other. Even in the rather rare case of the President and both houses being controlled by a single party, there are safe guards built in to insure the opposition has a strong voice in Government.

So, in the United States, the opposition still promotes its own agenda and works to force compromise with the Majority. It is another of the Check and Balance safe guards that make our politics messy and contentious.

The idea behind the minority party is its supposed to stop the majority from establishing itself as the permanent majority.

Usually in a two party system, each party has its own idea of what is good for the country. The Minority not only wants its own policies adopted but believes the policies of the Majority party will harm the country. So while in the minority it is in the party's interest to stop all progress until they are put back in power.

In an ideal government, the two parties would sit down, discuss their differences, and then move forward with a compromise agenda both parties could support. But in the U.S. About 20 years ago, one party decided it was more important to keep to their own ideals than to allow compromise. That has led to our current state of gridlock where neither party can advance their own agenda but has the power to prevent the other party from advancing either. Nothing gets done and all of the people suffer.

You pretty much nailed it down. In any group, there are various elements, like liberals and conservatives. So even though a party has a majority, that doesn't mean it actually has the necessary power to get everything done because the coalition might break apart. Minority parties tend to vote together to keep their power. That's why the minority party can help the majority by compromising with the various sects to get something done, it makes the majority possible. That success can then translate to people supporting their positions next election cycle.
