WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits rose more than expected last week, but the trend remained consistent with sustained strength in the labor market.

Initial claims for state unemployment aid increased by 17,000 to a seasonally adjusted 298,000 for the week ended Dec. 27, the Labor Department said on Wednesday, after four straight weeks of declines.

The recovery was 5 1/2 years ago. We are due for another recession .

Well surprise surprise!!!! The Obama admin was touting how they have reduced unemployment, but dont want to admit the obvious. There was temp Christmas hiring, and now that Christmas is over, all the temps are unemployed again. I sometimes wonder about the intelligence of liberals.

I doubt the republicans would have done anything better. Both liberals and republican parties in the US are useless.

The increase works out to 5% of the December job creation. So what you're saying is that 5% of the jobs created in the Christmas season were temporary. That's really a pretty small portion of them.

Basically non-issue. Some seasonal jobs are expected to be well, seasonal.
