Most of the ones here have established lives and many are U.S. citizens. Very few will return to live.
Actually most descendents of the original refugees are American Citizens, second and third generation born in the US. I really don't expect Cuba to change much, depending on what happens when both Castro's have passed, but short of property reparation or current family ties, few would "so to speak" return....
I doubt if any of the Cubans here will return to Cuba. Some risked their lives getting here why would they want to go back? Just because the door to Cuba is opened it doesn't mean the politics will be different.
I'm not all that up to date on the Cuban community in Florida, but are there still any hard line "Free Cuba" pockets there that might try to use the opportunity to reclaim what they lost? Enjoy!
My friend's dad has a picture in his home of his family's house in Cuba. He seems to have every intention of getting it back someday, as unlikely as that is. So to answer your question, yes.
China should be the model for Cuban pro-Capitalist reform. They're not ideal of course, but they're quite capable of interacting in the international community. We just abolished tariffs with them on many commodities. Trade between Cubans and Americans should not be restricted by law. [Hr][/hr] As for your question - they'd probably want to see their families. Would they go back permanently? Not on net.
People seem to be assuming the variable is what happens in Cuba. The variable could well be a leftist in the U.S. "ruling" without Congress.
Most of the ones here owned (and lost) property in Cuba, which they're not going to get back. So no, I wouldn't expect a mass exodus of Cubans.
But what about our progressive communist pals? Wouldnt they all want to move to Cuba to avoid the evil capitalists?
Unfortunately, I have to agree. If Obama opens an "Embassy" in Cuba, without Congress...This would allow any person in Cuba to get a Visa, under about 50 legal reasons. More democrat voter's, could be the reason....I'd bet Obama has agreed to close GITMO and close the base entirely.
The percentage of those returning home after living here awhile... will be about the same as those returning home after any future visit. Amnesty rocks!

Nice catch. Cubans have traditionally voted Republican, as distinct from most other Latino groups. Maybe Obama's trying to put a dent in that equation.
Why? They've already got most of what they want anyway - the state takes 30% of everyone's wealth. Plus we have iPhones in western nations
Sure, but Cuba will make sure everyone makes the same amount of money, and that makes progressive communists kinda randy....
Maybe 10%. That would be a mixture of older Cubans wanting to die "at home", a few curious Cuban Americans and some wanting to make money if the embargo is lifted (tourism in particular would be a potential gold mine).
It depends upon what happens if the Cuban government loosens rules on property ownership. There are probably a lot of Americans of Cuban descent who might consider investing there if they could be assured the government would not confiscate if when it become profitable.
Plenty of them. Cuba is a gorgeous island, it has wonderful food, music and culture and the people are warm and gracious. What's not to like? Believe me, when you came from another land to America, part of your heart remains in that land.
