Oh my, things are bad. The military's hands are tied too tightly, we'll never win in Afghanistan.

 

This is what happens after 6 years when a President has the time and inclination to post minions to high positions in the Military. Military competence becomes far less important than being a political yes man. Once the political brass pushes the warrior brass aside, then stunts like this happen. Hero's lose their awards and politicians in the service punish political sins in the service...It will take years under a new President to reverse the damage.

You sure this isn't just the armed forces slapping down those who would question foreign policy strategy? I read one quote in that Washington Post article which had Golsteyn saying something along the lines of -Americans were seen as the insurgents in Afghanistan-. Nothing in that about any specific policy...just a general observation.

Admiral Michelle Howard, she was fast tracked during the Obama administration to become Vice Chief of Naval Operations. She never commanded a warship but she's second in line to being the CONO.

Gen. Mattis the top flag officer warrior in the U.S. military who nobody argued was a best warrior in the U.S. military who won battles was fired by Obama for political reasons. Mattis was in line for being the next Commandant of the Marine Corps. Made way for Obama's choice, Gen. Dunford who was identified eight or ten years ago during the Bush administration as being a "yes man."

The current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dempsey is a "yes man" and Obama has a hardon for him because Dempsey allows Obama to violate the Constitution and bypass the military chain of command and micromanage our military and wars and use the military for social engineering experimentation.
