It is a fact that the main recruiting pool for terrorist groups are unemployed young men with no real hope for a future. If they had opportunities other than terrorism, they wouldn't do it.

 

No, it was an estimate, a plan. It was always subject to conditions on the ground. No plan survives contact with the enemy. Commanders must always remain flexible, and alter their plans to fit current conditions on the ground. Bush showed he was flexible and competent while he was in charge of Iraq and Afghanistan, sending more or less troops as the situation on the ground demanded it, like during the surge. I wasn't making some equivalency between Christians and Muslims, religion didn't enter my mind when making the post.
