I'm new here so I never met your dad, but I did read your tribute, and it is just beautiful. I'm sure your dad would be so proud of you for writing this. It is so touching that, even though I have never even met him, I have tears in my eyes. So sorry for your loss.

I imagine that Flounder made a great impression on everyone, just as he did me.
He was always the consummate gentleman.

Chris, we are all sorry to hear of your father's passing.
And know this is a hard time for the family.
    Please express our condolences.

I am sorry for your loss Chris. I did not really know your father but found my few interactions with him to be a pleasure as he struck me as a good man. His passing is a loss to our community.

Chris. You have written such a magnificent tribute to your Dad, I'm very grateful that you came here and posted it for us. People complain about technology taking us away from real life, but without it, I would never have known your Dad. Virtual friends are real friends. Where else could he come spend time with so many friends at once?

Of all the qualities I saw in your Dad, the one that stands out to me is his happiness. After reading your tribute, it's easy to see where he got it. I guess I'd expect his family to be as wonderful as he was. I'm grateful he came in here and allowed us to get to know him. Bon voyage, Flounder!

I don't even know how to start this....
I am so sorry for your loss Chris. He spoke very highly of you and showed pictures of you when you were at the football game being, I guess you would call it being Kinged? I heard a lot about you. And I am also very sorry for all of our loss! He was a very funny, kind hearted, crazy, talented, (especially with words) and a gentleman with all of us. He will be very missed. My heart is surely aching and a feeling of sadness is overwhelming right now. God will have his heart full of laughter in the years to come.
My prayers are with the family, the PF Family and again I am so sorry for everyone's loss.

I just found out out about this and am very saddened by this news. I did not know your dad personally Chris, but I sensed him. He had a great sense of humor, a dry wit and loved fishing. In other words, I consider him a real friend. So sorry for your loss and your family's. Blessings to you all.

Wow. Haven't been here in months, and just days ago heard the sad news about our beloved friend, George.
Flounder and I rarely agreed on most issues, but we did have a mutual respect for one another. I will forever cherish the fond memories and conversations we had, and know that George is in a better place now - probably up in Heaven, desperately trying to speed up the Wi-Fi so he can continue to converse with us all.

    We will miss you, mate.

It seems there is much to celebrate in George's life and he shall live on in your happy memories and the cherished lessons he taught you that you hand down to your children.

    Cheers.

Message passed along for a friend:

Flounder and I were close as two brothers, both fishermen, both friends. George would tell me about the fishing off Long Island and I'd tell him about the fishing on the Blue Ridge Parkway, we both had standing invitations to visit the other, and intended to, somehow it never happened. I'm sure you can relate to the deep hurt that I feel at his passing. George was a good man , my life enriched by his friendship. My heart cannot say goodbye , we'll meet again on the golden shores and have our fishing trip.

Until then , old friend, I carry the memory of you with me.

    Dan / the Hillbilly.

I was very sad to hear about Flounder's passing. He was an extremely fair-minded person and I enjoyed working with him for years. We were not usually on the same side of a political issue--but sometimes we were. Despite any differences I liked him a lot.

Chris--you are a wonderful testament to the Kind of man your father was. What parent doesn't hope and pray for the same kind of things to be said about them from a son or daughter! That means your Dad was the best kind of father and did all the right things in his role as Dad. I'm sure he was so proud of you. We need a lot more Dads like yours in this world today. God bless The family and may Flounder rest in peace!

I just found out and was very sorry to hear about Flounder's passing. I met Flounder on another Forum before coming here, and even though we were on opposite sides of most issues, he was always very polite and civil in his interactions with me and with others. I know this forum will miss him very much and my condolences go out to his family and friends who are experiencing great sadness. RIP Flounder.

Damn. I really liked that guy. He was very fair. That's extremely rare here.

Thank you for telling us about this, Chris. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that your father was a PF legend.

RIP Flounder. You will definitely be missed. :(

Flounder was very nice to me even though we were on different sides politically, I once remember him spending a lot of time with me writing long messages about how to get into the insurance industry. I really saw him in a different way after that, he was very compassionate and helpful if you got the opportunity to get to know him on a personal level on here. I know he was very proud of his son for becoming a lawyer at a prestigious law firm, and is at peace.

I never interacted with Flounder much, but I've seen one conservative and one liberal on this thread who have both said they thought Flounder was on the other side of them. I think that speaks immensely well of him

There are those who think that someday no one will ever die, and many who claim no one ever has.

I would like to thank Flounder Jr. for taking the time to let us know what has happened.

I have been a member long enough to have noticed more than a few members suddenly go quiet. There is no doubt that some of them probably had passed away. I salute them all.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

I don't think I had any direct conversations with Flounder, but I do remember seeing his posts from time to time. He was someone with whom I did not always agree, but I remember specifically that he had a way of speaking and thinking that I considered fair and civilized. Even when disagreeing with him, he had a genial way of speaking that didn't distract from what he was saying because of the tone of how he was saying it. I remember thinking that I respected him because of that as it's a quality not all of us have, or can at least maintain consistently, myself included.

I think this forum and many many other places on this Earth will be a little less classy now that he is gone. My condolences to you and your family.
