This was yet another phony scandal. Taxation is at the very heart of the existence of government, and the life’s blood of government function and policy. The tax laws serve both to impose burdens and confer benefits influencing virtually all commercial, political and social activity. What passes without duty is exempt; and under the law, it is the duty of the IRS to scrutinize those that apply for tax exempt status to ensure compliance. In this, the likelihood that the review and audit procedures of the IRS will be in conflict with those under scrutiny is not just probable, but inevitable.
So, let me get this straight. Your definition of common sense = public officials taking the 5th and having their emails magically disappear has all the earmarks of real transparency & honesty, and those that question your brilliant common sense approach because, to them, when someone takes the 5th and has their emails scubbed, sense something dishonest, corrupt and likely illegal? The IRS also illegally shared private information from these Conservative groups to: Liberal Media (ProPublica and Huffington Post see lower link, Admitted to Receiving the documents directly from the IRS.) Democratic Party Politicians (Elijah Cummings had no business requesting or receiving that information.) Other Federal Agencies: FEC, FBI, DEA, EPA, OSHA ... even more illegal confidential leaks. We have been lied to which is 100% verifiable. It did not come from a "few rogue agents in the Cincinnati office". It was ALL of the TEA Party groups. <--- 2 Links there.
