Rupert Murdoch Believes Scotland Will Be Independent From UK Within The 'Next Few Years'

Rupert Murdoch believes that Scotland will become independent from the UK in the “next few years” and that if the Conservatives fail to win a majority David Cameron could face "the chop" after the General Election.

In a post on Twitter the News Corp boss wrote: "Scots may be crazy or not wanting self rule, but who can deny right of self determination? Feels inevitable over next few years.”

Murdoch said the Scottish National Party viewed Cameron as the “perfect enemy” and that the party was “cleverly hurting” Ed Miliband.

He added that a failure to win a majority in the election “would mean the chop” for Cameron as Conservative leader.

Unfortunately it seems mostly based on a hatred of things English that never even affected the majority of voters to begin with.
Discovery of gas/oil (can't recall which) fields in English waters greatly reduces the impact of the Scots claim to Northern Sea fields.

It was suggested that Boris Johnson might be lined up for Conservative leadership should they be out this time around or not. I wish I could vote in the UK - I'd love to see Boris in power for a laugh. He is a US citizen too (dual) so could technically run for POTUS. Would be interesting to have both UK and US leadership on your resume.

There is a minority bigoted element, I agree with you to that extent. More significantly though, the SNP I would suggest are to a large degree filling the progressive vacuum vacated by the Labour Party, the latter of which have not, since Blair, represented the interests of the majority of Scots. Instead, with some justification, the Scots regard Labour as being more closely aligned to the Westminster right-wing ideology of their mainstream counterparts.

The SNP are predicted to win 40 to 50 seats in Scotland which will result in the virtual obliteration of Labour in a country where historically they have been all powerful. The forthcoming General election will, in other words, cement SNP dominance in Scotland against a backdrop in which the Scots will nevertheless remain under the dominance of Westminster.

The concept of a United Kingdom that includes Scotland governed from Westminster given these circumstances, is clearly unsustainable. An independent Scotland will almost certainly provide the catalyst for those who argue for greater regional autonomy throughout the rest of the UK, which in my view would be welcome.

As for Boris, he is an entertainer and entertainer's ought not to be politicians. I cannot take the guy seriously.

As it should be but they need to elect some REAL nationalists in Scotland and get rid of those traitor scum that intend to let the flood gates burst open with non white immigration into Scotland.

When Scotland leaves the UK we all get to watch the UK economy wither away and die.
