Sure persons with a so high popularity should feel at least a bit of social duty [politics is a choice, clear, but they should be aware of their role in modern societies]. In any case I have realized, making this selection, that Hollywood has really "produced" a wide sample of stars, for all tastes [and this is obvious considering the kind of business]. I agree that a figure like Jon Voight could be a good "horse" to run for the Presidency. When icons are considered for leadership because they are prominent, we have to recognize that the purpose of free speech is so widely abridged that only celebrities are discussed as leaders outside of the two party fare. They are discussed because of their social prominence not because of their ability to define what is most important to is all. Concepts, ideals and principles come second to a dumbed down people.

Unfortunately, since the election of JFK [and Kennedy was a great politician, intelligent, valid and really able to run a country, this to be clear] imagine has played a bigger and bigger role in the choice of the candidates. In the category of "imagine" we can put an eventual symbolic aspect of the person [for example to be the potential first Afro-American President or to be the potential first female President ... and so on ...]. It's not that rare to see politicians who make a great career in a party because of lobbying, external support and smart usage of one's image ... and not because of merit. So, why not an actor?
