It's a private business - what do you right wingers care if they choose to not sell Confederate items ? It's bad PR.

except the Confederates based their nation on the concept of the racial inferiority of black people, similar to the Nazis.

I'm talking about the attempt to erase history, not the motivation....... get with the program and follow along.

The free market was at work regarding gay marriage, until judges stepped in and made their own decisions. Not saying one is right or wrong but if you think this is capitalism at work you're nuts.

Maybe that is their calculation, however unlikely. So what? Your beef is with them, not "liberals." As another poster iterated, their calculation is likely an economic one, similar to CVS ceasing tobacco sales.

I really don't care if your product is not an essential service (food, groceries, medical care). The government isn't forcing Walmart to stop selling confederate flags.

Damn, I hope I never lose my copy of this record or I'll never be able to replace it.

and that's fine by me - let the free market speak. But that still doesn't mean the Confederate Flag has any place on public land.

They are not taking anyone's personal flag away nor any of their personal Confederate paraphernalia and no one has killed 9 innocent people in this country in the name of Mao or Stalin. What drama...LOL

private company, private band, and their right.
but what does this have to do with public money going to uphold and maintain a Confederate Flag on public land ?

    - - - Updated - - -

and more importantly, a flag of Mao or Stalin doesn't flag on state capitols

so because no one died here in America from the ruthless inhuman tyrannical rule of Moa or Stalin the millions they killed is inconsequential

If those nations what to ban those items, no one is stopping them. From what I hear, many Russians miss Stalin and long for the good old days.
Mao and Stalin items are obviously not very ubiquitous because I live in NYC and never see anyone flying those flags. And btw...it's the free market at work. No one forced these retailers to stop selling anything.

I don't have to - it's their right to no sell Confederate apparel. Now, I didn't care if they did sell it because I am all for private businesses doing their thing.

Common sense says that when the decision makers got together, they decided that public relations operating on the side of empathy and sensitivity was the way to go on this issue. That being said..this is a great statement to the killer. His intent was to divide and start a race war and instead because of his heinous act, most people have come together and decided to stand united as they show respect and empathy for the deceased, their families and the rest of the black population.

You don't get it, as conservatives usually don't... These companies are responding to the free market. And it is not worth loosing long term repeat customers because you have lighters and flasks with racist logo's in the store.

You realize this is due to that capitalism you love so much right? They're doing what they think is best for their bottom line. You know that right?

Some left-wing progressive Democrats are certainly capitalizing on those 9 dead church-goers. It was like an early Christmas present for their social justice movement. Pretty sick stuff.

You don't think the South Carolina politicians are deciding for themselves? The who else is voting on the laws?

You don't think that these corporations are deciding for themselves? Then who else is running these companies?

The history is quite clear, and the flag should be in a museum, where the bloody history of slavery is remembered. Seems like it is the conservatives trying to re-write history, as if the flag doesn't represent a war fought to defend a horrendous practice of slavery.

no it isn't due to capitalism it is to do with intimidation to stifle capitalism for the purpose of silencing a view you don't agree with
if it was do to capitalism the business would stop selling the confederate flag because no one is buying it that would be do to capitalism

For once I actually agree with you on something.

Obama could of acted presidential for a change, but instead he ran to the nearest microphone and camera with a rant about the racism in this country and how he's so ticked off that he's had to make this speech so many times (always about him) all while the victims bodies are still warm... Cheap and pathetic.

In SC on the other hand, people from all walks of life, race, sex, and political parties all came together to help the victims heal.

The media of course is doing everything they can to create more division amongst the people, their leader would be proud.

Sad that you feel so entitled that you are the one to decide what history will be recorded and how it should be worded. I though we killed all the Nazi's. We tried.

.... and the horse you rode in on....

If anyone is guilty of treason, it's the hoards of lib/progs forcing their ideology on anyone who does not agree with them. Just like the Nazi's.

The horror! This ranks right up there with my local Scolari's refusal to carry Cuervo Black...nah...not being able to get my tequila when and where I want it is much more infuriating.
