Nothing is possible without freedom. You can not be innovative if you don't have freedom You can not stand on your own two feet without freedom. You can not be educated without freedom. You can not have science without freedom. You cannot think for yourself without freedom. You cannot have money or wealth without freedom You can not have a family of your own without freedom because raising a child takes a village. That child will never be yours and yours alone without freedom. You cannot serve God without freedom. And you can not have Star Trek without freedom. Statism is an illusion of freedom. There is no freedom in statism, of any sort. Don't buy the claims of statism.
Sorry but that is simply false. I agree all of those things you listed are easier to accomplish with freedom, but people have done those things while being under the tyranny of governments. Look at North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. Those are all countries where there is tyranny and still people are educated, have science, etc. that they have done without freedom. Now like I said it is easier to accomplish with freedom and more people can do those things with freedom, but they can be done in limited amounts under tyranny. Stating absolutisms doesn't make your case.
Greatest freedom is the freedom to oppress others. Meaning the concept of freedom is renduculous, I mean if you want to live in a society you are basically giving up your freedom in exchange for security and comfort.
Doesn't it depend too? I'm very much concerned about my freedom to read and say whatever I want to, whether somebody else finds it "pornographic" or not. As to my freedom to own and carry a gun, not so much. OTOH I do recognize the rationale in forbidding child porn which poses a danger to children. I only wish more gun advocates would do so in regard to everyone
Hierarchy and oppression entail the restriction of rights and autonomy. Eradicating them deprives people only of the ability to deprive others of their freedoms, while guaranteeing that people will not be exploited. It's a colossal net gain.
http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2013-04/iran-says-it-has-time-machine http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/apr/19/women-blame-earthquakes-iran-cleric Yes afterall without iranian "science" we wouldn't know that cheating hoes cause earthquakes and we certainly would not have a time machine.
If you're forced to do it and not doing it of your own free will the act of worship is meaningless. If I put a gun to your head and say "pray to allah not jesus" or "pray to jesus not allah" and you do so, you're not worshiping jesus or allah you're complying so you don't get shot. FAITH is what's important, not how many people can you force to follow some precept.
Let me recap this conversation. "Let's get rid of these bad things, they're reducing the amount of good things" I say. "But getting rid of those bad things increases the amount of bad things", you say. Rather than attempting to refute this notion because I expect it to be fruitless, I tell you "Regardless of the truth of that statement, the maximal amount of good things is achieved through the reduction of things that reduce the amount of good things." Telling people that they aren't allowed to (*)(*)(*)(*) all over other people's lives doesn't make anyone's lives worse. It just means that a few would-be bullies need to get over themselves and let other people be.
Except those people would actually ot be serving God, but their own interests and only using God and an excuse.
In a society that respects real individualism and freedom, that society is a society that is based on consent to be government to some standards. That society that coerces tor manipulates his agreement and consent in some way is not a free society, it is a tyranny. And those people really aren't interested in freedom, they are simply lying their behinds off to fool people. And they are not free either.
The idea of "freedom" is nothing more than a glittering generality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glittering_generality
Society is always some form of tyranny, you give up freedom in exchange for protection just difference of degree.
