And inside the South as well, of course. Thus, Southern politicians such as Haley, Bush, Graham, Alexander, Corker, etc. supporting its removal from public property.

As a unifying community symbol, it fails spectacularly.

Let folks who have a hankering to do so fly it over their outhouses, mince around with it in demonstrations, or tattoo it on their tushies, if they wish.

It serves as a self-imposed entrée to a "watch list."

    Really?

Ask how many southern people support what that weirdo did in Charleston.

What % of the population south of the MD line think that was the right to do, in your opinion?

Whether you agree with the Nazi principles, you have to respect their willingness to stand and fight against overwhelming odds.

I don't support what the Japs did during WW2, but I respect the hell out of those entrenched in the islands willing to stand and fight to the last man.

Sorry you don't see it that way. Ask anyone who's ever served, they'll tell you the same thing.

While the north was burning peoples homes and destroying peoples life possessions and starving civilians (women and children) to death, the men were fighting against an army three times their size (in a good battle) and holding their own.

That demands respect. Are you a leftist? Then you may not understand.

    I've served...

If they put up a great fight in the interests of peace of humanity, that would be honorable. But they did not. When a criminal puts up a good fight, we don't honor him on those grounds. He goes to jail, and probably with a black eye to boot. The Confederate State- while putting up a good fight- did so at the cost of thousands of American lives. All for the sake of preserving their state and institutions which were pretty vile.

The thing is people who want to keep the Confederate Flag only list the things they consider honorable that is associated with it, but leave out the malignant part which can be remembered easily by a people still struggling from the effects of that regime. You'll never see the Nazi flag flying from a State building. At least...I hope not. Why allow the Confederate one, then?

The confederates already controlled approximately half of the territory.

It wouldn't surprise me if the klan brings a few American flags to wave at their assembly.

    Ooops....

If your revered figures are people who fought to own other people, or at least fought for the nobles who wanted to own other people, it's time for new heroes. In fact, it's time to stop calling them heroes in the first place.

But I'll settle for not flying their flag on public grounds.

That's exactly right. I had two small stickers on my truck that I got in my membership package when I joined the SCV, and I left the two big ones off. I did it because I'm not too big into stickers on my truck. I have 3 Confederate Flags that sit folded up in my bedroom. I love my heritage and connection to the Confederacy and the South but never felt any need to have to put it all out there, but after all of this BS and crying from the left over the false symbolism of that flag, I've put all of my SCV stickers on my back window, strategically placed, and I have my Confederate Flags flying. I did this because like you said, they demanded that I sit, so I stood, and I don't give two (*)(*)(*)(*)s what anybody thinks about it.

Well good, then we have protected rights.

I don't care for NASCAR, but I would assume they'll be losing a lot of fans if they do this.

    That was a good piece!

I live in NJ and I am seeing them more and more up here. I see trucks with giant flags on them driving around. Trying to ban these things is having the opposite effect.

Agreed. Given all the obvious logistic advantages of the United States, it was foolhardy of those who aspired to perpetuate slavery as Confederate ones to try it, and go looking for a beating for so long, although they certainly held there own for a while initially.

I actually posted that it would probably reach NASCAR, a Southern stock car, rolling billboard sport, which rivals (or used to), the NFL in attendance. They run Three races in Florida; Four races in Virginia; Two races in Delaware; Two races in Georgia; Two races in Alabama; Three races in North Carolina; Two races in Tennessee; One race in Kentucky; One race in South Carolina and two races in Texas. Damn near have the whole old Confederacy covered and the Confederate flag is featured prominently at just about all of those race tracks. Really shouldn't be a problem here, because the number of persons of color attending any NASCAR race around the country is negligible. Like the PGA, very few persons of color ever cracked the driver, crew chief, owner ranks, or the crowd's. But, I agree, bowing down to the Black community over something like the Confederate flag flying on South Carolina (or any state's) official property, incorrect, but flying on private property, and NASCAR is a private enterprise, nobody is going to protest in that 80,000 person crowd at Daytona if a Confederate flag is flying. Too bad NASCAR bowed to politically correct pressure - no need to. Regarding honoring the wishes and sentiments of America's Black community - it is always on the white population to do that, never on the blacks. Personally, I am sick and tired of seeing in every city, town and village in America, a Martin Luther King, Jr. highway, street or boulevard, and they should change those street names. Sharpton and Jackson? They would go crazy with that kind of payback..........

Good idea. I vote that liberals can cover expenses once the grown ups stop attending all the races due to NASCAR joining the titty baby bandwagon with yall.

Banning any symbols - racist flags, swastikas, etc. - on private property is a bad idea - just as it is to force a community to submit to any divisive one being displayed on the public property that they share.

A public flag is supposed to unify all whom it represents, not divide them.

Yes because things are so much better in Detroit, Chicago and Maryland. I can't think of a comparable city in the south.

Do we honor our ancestors who fought for the confederacy? Absolutely. Do we respect what the fact they wanted to keep slavery? Absolutely not. Do you respect George Washington and Thomas Jefferson? If so, why? They were slave owners. Do you know confederate soldiers are considered American vets? So whether you like it or not confederates were also real Americans.

Do you even know where the flag is flown? It is flown at memorials, battlefields and grave yards. It is flown there out of respect for the dead. Well it was at battlefields until the southern purge started. Now the federally controlled battlefields have decided it's better to censor the past. I've said several times already some of the flags in some places because we will appease the outside aggressors before they come to the south and start burning our cities like they have been their own. But the flag will continue to fly over plenty of memorials, battlefields and grave yards.

We know the rest of the country doesn't see the flag the way we do but the rest of the country has zero right to tell us what flags we can and cannot fly. And with that I'm out of this thread, I've said all I can say to defend the flag from racist and outside aggressors in this thread.

Why you said in another post you had no hate toward the south and here you want to take away my right to vote. Perhaps you should ask the federal government to let the southern states leave the USA since you have such hatred for this part of the country.

Every culture has part of their history that they should be ashamed of. Most white people are ashamed of this part of their history.

Those white people who are not ashamed of this part of thier history is the minority group that you should be tired of in this situiation.

They are the goal of the North. You guys claim to want minority majority cities and states, there they are.

What I think is amazing is how quickly white liberals condemn the South, when the South is home to the largest concentrations of the most loyal racial Democrat voting bloc in the country.
