The International Atomic agency can comprise of any nationality that are members; their competency is no greater (or lesser) for having a US member involved. As for hostages, I do agree with Obama; it would be foolish to include them in negotiations, especially since this is an international issue and not a US one.

If we had asked for their release to be part of these negotiations then they become hostages and we hand leverage to Iran. That's plain stupid IMO; we don't negotiate with hostages.
