Uhm, didn't you have an 8 year run of a CEO president under W Bush?
    How did that work out?

Are you kidding? Georgie was a ripoff artist, not a CEO! My God man, what planet have you been on?

Shrubya was about as much of a CEO as Al Sharpton is. Charlatans through and through. Georgie's best gig as a CEO was to rip off all his stockholders and investors, and I really don't think that's the legitimate function of a CEO.

No, I'm talking about a guy like Jamie Dimon, who knows how to move large institutions. The guy's a complete schmuck but he's very effective as a CEO. Have you read about his management style? He "often" plays his executives off against each other, he "often" stirs the pot and forces his underlings to resolve problems on their own, and he seems to know how to "nudge" rather than push. Reagan was good that way too, and so was Lyndon Johnson. Clinton and Obama are kinda the opposite, they're "conciliators", they like "consensus", and they usually have a clear idea of what they'd like the broad outcome to be before they set up the opportunity for a consensus.

If Georgie was a CEO he was somewhere between a Ken Lay and a Meg Whitman - halfway between ripping off his employees and driving the company out of business entirely. I meant a good CEO, not a wanna-be. :)

Trump is crass and obnoxious. Does he now represent the Republicans?

What are the qualifications for being a "Real Republican". Inquiring minds want to know.

Sure Perry wants the front runner to drop out, that would put Perry one number closer to the front. Everyone needs to relax. Trump just gave his personal opinion. No more no less. But we have the liberal media, candidates, and dems, going crazy over an opinion stated by Trump. That is a circus !!! Trump doesn't walk on water.

A "real" Republican means you're actually conservative, as distinct from being a RINO establishment bootlicker.

Jeb, for instance, is not a conservative. Not in the least. He's kind of in this namby-pamby grey area called "RINO", which is not exactly Democratic but not exactly Republican either.

Dr. Ben Carson is probably a "real" conservative, I haven't heard him licking any establishment boots, or asking for open borders, or anything like that.

    Scott Walker.... jury's still out.

Rand Paul... seems more of a libertarian, like his father. There's room for that in the conservative tent, but it's not going to get a majority vote in this election.

I usually define conservatism along the primary three historical axes: fiscal, social, and defense. If you're advocating open borders, you are not a real conservative and you should do the Republicans a favor by leaving the party and joining the Democrats.

Trump is either being brilliant, or he's the luckiest politician ever born. He's said exactly the right thing lately, he's pushed the envelope exactly as far as it'll go without bursting. He's made everything but a racist comment (which of course sent the libs into a tizzy 'cause they perceive "everything" as racist), and he did everything but call McCain a coward (which may have some negative blowback in the future, but doesn't seem to be creating too many significant waves "today"), and etc. He's really at the very outer edge of that envelope, isn't he?

So I'm thinking, either he's really that smart, OR, he's just taking shots in the dark and someday one of 'em is going to land on the wrong side of the fence. If this is really Trump "playing the media", it's astonishingly brilliant. Just think what would happen if he could keep this up as president! :)

That's what makes Trump the front runner -- he isn't a politician and he's not PC. Many people like that. Yep, a truthful man. Unlike Obama and Hillary who hide their personal opinions, and have been caught lying about them.
Trump is a fool to many, but a breath of fresh air to many others. Rather than calling him names why not just say you disagree with his opinion. Then state why you disagree.

Interesting. I saw this yesterday, but kept my mouth shut. As someone who didn't vote for Obama and won't vote for Trump, I see both of you as two sides of the same coin.

You know I have been thinking about the August debate. I think the others on the stage will make Trump concentrate on defending his remarks about McCain instead of letting him bring up ideas of his own. Trump better get ready to answer the same question 10 or more times about his belittlement of McCain's service record.

Trump should have attacked McCain on his record as a Senator and challenged McCain's ideas and policies instead of his military service. Trump could have laid into McCain on a thousand different things, why he chose his military service and POW status is beyond me.

For me, Rick Perry disqualified himself as a candidate yesterday, for making such an exaggerated and false extrapolation from Trump's comments. And I had been one of Perry's supporters for quite some time, and no big fan of Trump.

I know you have a fairly sound approach on most matters, but did you watch Trumps comments in their entirety?

Yeah, Trump is a bull in a china closet; but nothing in his comments suggest he was attacking McCain's military service. He just wasn't putting it on the same pedestal that everyone else has been doing for the past 40 years.

No, just a short clip. But when it comes to politics it is perspectives that count and influence races and elections. Trump's speech or interview may have been golden except for that excerpt. That excerpt is what I refer to as a bumper sticker slogan. People have a habit of forgetting the mundane or whole interview and concentrates on the slogan or in this case the excerpt. It will be what the majority of people remember. For what reason Trump chose McCain's POW status and perhaps hero status because of it, I haven't the faintest idea.

But in the world of the 24 hours news channel and the ten second sound bite, it will be remembered. Whether Trump was right or wrong is irrelevant to most people, that is if your not a Trump supporter. It is the perception which is quickly becoming ingrained into the public's mind.

I personally was irritated when I first heard it. I kept asking myself why Trump would do such a dumb thing when he had ten thousands other things to get back at McCain on. It was pure dumb. I do think this will take some wind out of Trump's sails. He has risen from around 4 points in a crowded GOP field to 14 points or better. He has a bulls eye on his back because he is now the front runner, Trump has also given his opponents a few arrows to fire at the bulls eye. How successful his opponents will be remains to be seen. But make no bones about it, this was a gift he handed to the rest of the field.

As you can see from some of his followers, the answer is Yes, at least he represents the crazy section of the GOP. Thankfully Trumpy is not going anywhere in US politics, in the end the sane section of the GOP will soundly reject the narcissist.

You didn't ask me anything. Your comment wasn't even directed at me. If you're offended that I stuck my nose between you two, you have my apologies.

My comment was directed at Trump and Obama's egos. It's the rock star syndrome, and I see it on both sides. The reason I mentioned my voting record and preference was to indicate lack of bias.

Perry DQ'd himself in '08 when he was outed as approving the free education for the children of Illegals. He's a pansy RINO. Period.

On the RCP average, Trump is second at 15% and Perry is 10th at 2% so currently should make the debates by a whisker. Naturally he would appreciate the withdrawal of any or several of the folks occupying spots 1 through 9.
