I would think most people who want to smoke weed don't, because it's illegal and they don't want to get busted. Make it legal, and you'll have more people using it. Do you really want to live in a society where everyone is recklessly stoned all the time?

Let's watch Colorado for a while, and see what happens.

How would marijuana legalization hurt lumbering or cotton farming?

Hemp was poised to overtake wood pulp as the chief paper. William Randolph Hearst, a newspaper mogul who owned a large interest in the lumber industry lead the charge to outlaw hemp to protect his financial interests.

Cotton moguls wanted it illegal for similar reasons. They were afraid that hemp, which was cheaper, would replace cotton in US paper currency.

Dupont also wanted it illegal because they had just invented Nylon, and wanted hemp out of the way as a competitor in ropes and other products.

LOL, so much fail in one post.

I am definitely not a stoner, nor are most people in Colorado. Yet we legalized it.

And yeah, gay marriage is the same thing:

    You're a minority now. Sorry.

    Yes. It's the truth.

Please post your evidence that leads you to believe most people in Colorado did not want to legalize recreational pot.

I didn't believe that most of them didn't want to legalize it. I believe most of them were potheads.

Based on what? Do you have pot sales figures for Colorado which would show that over 2 or 3 million people are buying pot on a regular basis?

What good is digging up actual sources? It would probably just affirm my assumptions.

It provides proof that it's not just your opinion.

There are no sources that support your claims. That is why you would not be able to provide them anyway. Your claims are wrong.
