Race and/or ethnicity is completely irrelevant and off topic to a thread about gays. You're talking about ethnic-based parades and festivals. This thread is about gay-specific events.

But perhaps you're right: Maybe there are German Gay Fests, et al. Somewhere that I thankfully don't have to witness.

 

So why is it okay for puerile to be proud of their ethnicity or race, but not their sexuality?

 

Because nobody cares how you like to have an orgasm or what you choose to stick up your anus. Homosexuals used to complain that what they do in the privacy of their bedroom is no one else's business. And, most people were fine with that.

I was engaged with a homosexual on my local newspaper website forum recently who told me that they don't like being referred to as 'homosexual' and preferred 'gay'.

 

It's funny that the majority of comments on this board about people "sticking things up their anus" ARE coming from conservatives. Now why is that?

 

There is no such thing as "gay and lesbian rights. Everyone in America has the same rights protected by the constitution, regardless of their sexual preference. I agree with the Chief Justice and three other justices that the constitution had nothing to do with the ruling on same-sex marriage.

 

why do some want to push around minorities... same was true of inter-racial marriage, what harm does it do to them to give same gender couples the same rights they enjoy

When blacks were trying to gain the right to vote and marry across racial lines they were trying to gain the rights of other humans because many whites were still trying to classify them as something less. Also the motive was not money.
The lawsuits that led to this decision were motivated by a desire for government money, not governmental permission to do unusual things in the name of love. Earlier court cases gave them that right not so long ago.
Does anyone notice how few laws were ever passed by legislatures in any state to expand marriage rights? Why do you think it is that legislatures have decided to let the courts do all their dirty work?

 

I have issues with the lack of concern for the family, for kids ...for the concept of "wholesome". It seems "wholesome " is laughed at and "unwholesome" is gleefully promoted. It's understandable why there is a lack of concern for children and people raising them....because in general gay people aren't into procreating and the adult self rules.

In my town gay/lesbian community is very respectful to families. Their gatherings and parades are "wholesome". But they don't call the shots here like the gay community does in San Francisco....

Again, I say proper education greatly dispels fear. And that's a good place to start.

 

I have no problem with gays, that said I am not thrilled with some of the strange displays during gay pride parades, come on guys and gals keep it tasteful.
