Well said.
Do you ever wonder where all the American posters are critiquing European politics and culture? It's positively fascinating how fixated non-Americans are with America.
We see pictures of Big Ben, The Vatican, Pisa, Art, ancient Hellenistic architecture, castles, landscapes... But discourse regarding European politics, culture, business, media, etc... It doesn't exist. We're rather self absorbed.
I live in metro Atlanta. Traffic is much more dangerous than guns.

There are different ways to look at that "traffic is much more dangerous than guns!"
If you consider that (especially in the US where public transportation is almost non-existent!) driving is a NECESSITY of life (to go to work, to go to school, to go shopping, etc. . .). Guns, in NO WAY are a necessity, unless you are in some sort of law enforcement position.

In addition to that, if you consider HOW MANY HOURS A DAY people use their car, compare to how many MINUTES A MONTH gun owner use their guns. . .it is obvious that guns are MUCH MORE deadly than cars!

And, I believe it is this year that gun death have surpassed traffic death! (I'll have to look for the link to support this).

Here it is: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...n-deaths-to-exceed-traffic-fatalities-by-2015

by the way, cars and driving are HIGHLY regulated. . .I would be perfectly happy if guns were just as regulated, but that seems to be exactly what gun addicts don't want!

My point was, arguing for more US gun control is a waste of breath.
Why isn't public transit being discussed? It isn't an emotionally charged issue. It isn't polarizing, distracting... But you are very right, US public transit is almost nonexistent. We talk about environment, green energy, conservation...and never public transit. Even when gas was four bucks a gallon, the subject wasn't touched...
A shame...the positive potential in that topic is immense...

Your link is from Bloomberg, the guy who wants to ban guns.

The other interesting thing about Bloomberg is that he has a 17 man heavily armed bodyguard. He and his entire family is surrounded by guns 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Sadly, truly important topics are never mentioned because they aren't political talking points. Like term limits in DC...no mention...Vast public transit wouldn't just be green, cost effective, more safe...it would offer job markets to the marginalized and poor currently unavailable because of lack of transportation. It would boost business, free up roads, bring fuel costs down...the benefits are endless.

I'm all for more regulation of cars, such as these:

http://www.topcarrating.com/topspeed.php?brand_id=126

After all nobody needs a car that can travel at these speeds

This may be the most spot on post I have heard on this forum.

Even more so in the big cities.

Perhaps you could request your attacker stab you in a particular location? Where would that be for you?

The video should show you it's hard enough to even hit the other person during a life threatening encounter let alone shoot 'em in the big toe. Why do you continue to comment on situations you know zero about?

So the unborn baby is a junior person, not a full person? Do you have any children? At about 5 weeks their heart started beating. Are you against the death penalty? Many anti-death penalty advocates say the person getting the lethal injection is subject to pain? Do you think the baby being aborted feels no pain, if not why not. Yet sonogram's show unborn babies sucking their thumbs for pleasure, even moving around in the womb to get comfortable.

You mean like these?

Gun control statistics reported by the FBI

states with right to carry laws have lower crime rates than states without carry laws. According to FBI crime statistics:
Violent crime is 18 percent lower. Homicide is 21 percent lower. Robbery is 32 percent lower. States that approve right to carry experience a significant decline in violent crime rates directly after the law is administered. Gun control statistics reveal the following drops immediately after a right to carry law is implemented-
An 8 percent drop in murder rates
A 7 percent drop in aggravated assaults
A 5 percent drop in rapes
A 4.9 percent drop in all violent crime
A 2.2 percent decline in robberies.

And then there are those that fear having to be responsible for themselves and believe they have some right to deprive others of what they fear. But what I despise is how this nation has become a nation of self imposed eunuchs.

Haha. Good. Why do you care? Do you think we care what the globe thinks about our guns or laws or feelings?

It's not mission impossible. All you have to do is give these Europeans who have failed to remember history a history lesson.
