Indeed. This goes back to the old axiom, if you repeat a lie long enough, the lie becomes the truth. We are witnessing something similar with the repeated claims that Assad used chemical weapons in Ghouta. Except that he didn't.

Have you a link?. As far as I was aware, there is no evidence as to who was responsible.

My guess is that they were planing to blame Assad for this.

"Assad using chemical weapons on his own civilians" is a great headline. They probably tried to spin it like that.

Chemical weapon thing is a great pretext for foriegn intervention and forced removal.

Except they got caught and it backfired.

Indeed. I mean, they have already blamed him and continue to blame him. The last person who, from a logical perspective, would have been responsible would have been Assad since he was the one who insisted that inspectors enter the country to look into the matter. Also it doesn't make any sense that he would use chemical weapons against his own people knowing that such an action would provide the justification for Obama to act against him. So from that perspective alone, it's highly unlikely that he did it.

All any member has to do is look at my posting history to see I have posted that Putin going into Syria was a HUGE MISTAKE and that it would result in Terrorist Attacks upon Russian targets.

I started posting about this several weeks ago so you can try to say I didn't but the record proves I have.

Russia was the target of muslim terrorist attacks long before any fighting broke out in Syria. It is an illusion to think that any country can insulate itself from jihadi terrorism by placating the jihadi terrorists.

Of course but their effort to attack Russian targets has dramatically increased.

Eadora.....I want you to REMEMBER this!!!

Remember this moment and remember that you posted this video.

Because what is going to happen is Putin is going to sell Assad out!!!

Oh...Putin will do his best to make it look like Assad is stepping down from his rule in Syria for the benefit of the people....but what will actually be going on is that Putin will at that point ask the U.S. for a DEAL.

In return for U.S. help to get the Russian Economy out of it's current deep Depression....and in return for the U.S. allowing Putin to built his pipeline in Syria..........Russia will allow Assad to either move out of Syria and go to Russia or go to some other Nation where Assad will be insulated from extradition and a return to face war crimes charges in a Democratic Syria.

This will probably happen right after a new U.S. President takes office.

It might even be possible that Assad is allowed to stay in Syria but Assad will no longer hold office and in that case some DEAL between the U.S. and Russia would not allow Assad to be prosecuted.

    This will happen.

Putin can not continue to ignore the very quickly sinking Russian Economy and as the United States is only gathering strength and quickly gaining greater and greater political, socioeconomic and military influence word wide as the U.S. Economy unlike most other nations economies is not only GROWING but is on the verge of BOOMING!

Add to this the fact that the U.S. will become 100% Energy Independent by 2023....and add to this that the U.S. has just surpassed Russia as the worlds largest producer of Oil....and the U.S. is ALREADY the worlds largest producer of Natural Gas and Coal......

....and add into the mix the United States is the WORLDS LARGEST EXPORTER of Coal....very soon will be the #1 Exporter of Natural Gas as we will pass Qatar soon....and the U.S. has been and always be the #1 Exporter of Coal.......

.....plus the fact Oil and Gasoline prices are low in the extreme as I bought Gasoline today in Western Massachusetts and it only cost me $1.95 a Gallon.......

Well.....given all this.....the United States is the ONLY nation that is both capable and willing to help Russia get out of it's very deep Economic Recession......well this means that Putin will have to give us a few things for the U.S. to help Russia.

Putin...will be one of those things.

Wow AboveAlpha! I liked your post.

This seems to be the best option to me.

Assad steps down, and Russia makes a deal.

This is most likely what will happen.

And if Putin does not make a DEAL.....then the Russian people will be truly screwed!

I'm giddy about the idea. I was secretly hoping something like this would happen.

Now if only we could get the Ukraine rebels to seek a similar path to asylum in Russia. But, well, one step at a time.

Putin fully intended upon using Spetsnaz to begin an insurrection in a swath of Ukrainian Territory all along the Northwestern coast of the Black Sea from the Crimea all the way to Russia.

Once Spetsnaz created this insurrection just like they did in the Crimea....Putin would then annex this swath of land in the Ukraine which would have connected Russia directly with the Crimea by land.

We stopped this as we refused to lower Oil Production until Putin withdrew all Spetsnaz from this region in the Ukraine and it was not until Spetsnaz left that the U.S. and Canada finally lowered Oil Production which raised Oil Prices enough to allow the Russian economy to slightly recover to a point Russia no longer needed to use the U.S. Dollar and Treasury as the Emergency Currency and Exchange for Russia.

Why no, I'm giddy at the thought that Assad might step down and deescalate the situation.

Then I pointed out that it would be nice if the Ukraine conflict could be solved in the same way, with rebels seeking asylum in Russia. Then they don't have to face the music back home. But such a solution would be difficult to implement for every rebel.

But I like it when people get saved, regardless of what they've done.

I am suddenly very confused.. Does Putin want a pipeline thru Syria or does he want to prevent a pipeline thru Syria?

Putin has no end game. He got caught in the macho posturing with Obama. He wants a naval site near off shore oil deposits between Cyprus and Israel and a little bit further down off the coast of Gaza which eventually will all be extracted. He wants a presence in waters to offset what he sees as interference with energy sources that may or may not compete with his own. He has no long term vision. He things as do all communists in 5 year spurts. Its his weakness. Always has been. He plays in the immediate here and now with hegemony. Its classic Russian bias when playing chess. They do not believe in looking to far ahead. Maybe 5, 10 moves.

In the Middle East it matters little. There is no vision It's chaos. The alliances and constellations and networks of power and terror come and go like sand dunes in the wind or like the pulse of fractal theory. The development comes and goes in the moment and what-ever is best in the moment for any given leader and in the Arab world there are thousands of leaders, thousands, each with their own vision and agenda.

It is a mistake to look at the collective psychosis of the Middle East and look for reason, logic, or discernible patterns of predicted behaviour.

The wind that forms the dunes is beyond the understanding of political analysis and intelligence.situated with fat little boys behind computers n Moscow or Washington.

To understand the wind's movements you must live in the desert and become humble to the wind and learn by emersing yourself in the environment and observing, letting the wind find you and speak to you so to speak.

That is as cryptic as I can get to Alpha. Putin's communist robots are not programmed to understand the wind. Neither is American technology. Neither will rely on their smell, taste, skin, ears and eyes. They fear their senses. They rely on computerized technology to forecast.

You can't defeat a Beduin with drones. You can't defeat a Jew with fear it makes us stronger.

The West and East just can't deal with Jews or Arabs of the ME. The tendency is to try tame both. It ain't gonna happen. They are both sand in the wind. They shape shift.

Putin, Obama, nobodies, blips in history.

Great warriors move through the deserts with speed. They use small and light units and they respect the wind.

Tanks, drones, my butt Alpha. Camels. Fancy weapons my butt.. A bowie knife is just fine and dandy.
