No, but as the previous posters pointed out, the video snippet was taken out of context and didn't include the rest of the segment.

I'm not anti-religion. I believe in religious freedom and respect all religions equally. To borrow a phrase, 'nuff said.

Thats not what I get when I read it. Tell me once more how was Mohamed persecuted and why? Did they nail him to a cross?

Its not out of context and reflects the actions of the prophet himself. History proves they are about making war on the unbeliever

How is it taken out of context? Was it edited ?

Islam should not be considered a religion anymore than those who worship Kaili in the Beatles movie Help or those who follow the mad man in Gunga Din. It preaches sedition

I don't compare the suffering Muhammad (P) went through to the same suffering Jesus Christ (P) went through, although that's a different topic. Yes, he was persecuted when he first received the Revelations from the Angel Gabriel, because his views on monotheism were antithetical to the polytheistic and corrupt views of the Al Quraysh tribe.

No, they're about fighting for justice for all. Did the Bible also guide the KKK into their horrendous activities?

    Islam preaches tolerance.

Wow you did not watch the video. The speakers entire point was that those views - men and women should be separated, death penalty for gays, etc he lists the issues at the start of the video - are not radical but mainstream islam.

If you are not a muslim, muslims are not your friend.

"Muhammad: a frank look at his influential (and violent) life and teachings"

In The Truth about Muhammad, New York Times bestselling author and Islam expert Robert Spencer offers an honest and telling portrait of the founder of Islam-perhaps the first such portrait in half a century-unbounded by fear and political correctness, unflinching, and willing to face the hard facts about Muhammad's life that continue to affect our world today.

From Muhammad's first "revelation" from Allah (which filled him with terror that he was demonpossessed) to his deathbed (from which he called down curses upon Jews and Christians), it's all here-told with extensive documentation from the sources that Muslims themselves consider most reliable about Muhammad.

Spencer details Muhammad's development from a preacher of hellfire and damnation into a political and military leader who expanded his rule by force of arms, promising his warriors luridly physical delights in Paradise if they were killed in his cause. He explains how the Qur'an's teaching on warfare against unbelievers developed-with constant war to establish the hegemony of Islamic law as the last stage.

Spencer also gives the truth about Muhammad's convenient "revelations" justifying his own licentiousness; his joy in the brutal murders of his enemies; and above all, his clear marching orders to his followers to convert non-Muslims to Islam-or force them to live as inferiors under Islamic rule.

In The Truth about Muhammad, you'll learn

    - The truth about Muhammad's multiple marriages (including one to a nine-year-old) - How Muhammad set legal standards that make it virtually impossible to prove rape in Islamic countries - How Muhammad's example justifies jihad and terrorism - The real "Satanic verses" incident (not the Salman Rushdie version) that remains a scandal to Muslims - How Muhammad's faulty knowledge of Judaism and Christianity has influenced Islamic theology--and colored Muslim relations with Jews and Christians to this day.

Recognizing the true nature of Islam, Spencer argues, is essential for judging the prospects for largescale Islamic reform, the effective prosecution of the War on Terror, the democracy project in Afghanistan and Iraq, and immigration and border control to protect the United States from Islamic Jihadists.

Explanations and links to the koran are here http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/quran/011-taqiyya.htm

Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should generally be truthful to each other, unless the purpose of lying is to "smooth over differences."

There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause of Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.

Qur'an (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie.

Qur'an (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves" against danger, meaning that there are times when a Muslim should appear friendly to non-Muslims, even though they should not feel that way..

Qur'an (9:3) - "...Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters..." The dissolution of oaths with the pagans who remained at Mecca following its capture. They did nothing wrong, but were evicted anyway.

Qur'an (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who had to "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.

Qur'an (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts" The context of this remark is marriage, which explains why Sharia allows spouses to lie to each other for the greater good.

Qur'an (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means 'deceit'. If Allah is supremely deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. (See also 8:30 and 10:21)

Bottom line - muslims can deceive nonbelieveers for the greater good of islam.

Even looking at pro-muslim sources, taqqiya is not refuted. Even the populist driven and often PC driven Wikipedia has nothing about taqqiya not being a legitimate ploy for muslims.

I asked how was he persecuted. Isnt it true he belittled their religions and traditions? So in what form did this persecution take?

Apparently not for women or gays or unbelievers

They did indeed use verses from the bible and look at where they are now. Let me know when Islam ostracizes the radicals as Christians do the KKK. There are a few misguided and bigoted Christians but nothing like the number of radical Muslims or the number of victims of Islamic terrorists. People like you need to do more than just talk you need to crush these people.

You must have studied the koran quite heavily. Did you find verses that specifically support your image and ideal of the koran, or did you study the koran every day to find the meaning of being close to god, and how to act on this earth accordingly?

I'm not sure there is any religious book that is clear cut where you can pull a verse and take it at face value. If we take them at face value, then almost ALL muslims are hypocrites and will be sent to hell. I suggest that those muslims would take a very different stance on that conclusion and don't believe they are going to hell at all, even though they are not taking part in any slaughter. If so, taking quotes from the book is meaningless unless you have studied and prayed, and found real meaning from the entire book rather than a single verse.

Of course, I could be wrong - maybe nearly all muslims ARE going to hell because they are not slaughtering - either way, the vast majority are not slaughtering, which is good.

It doesn't change the fact that the video doesn't relate to terrorism. The guy asked a simple question which essentially says "do you believe that allah is great no matter what he does"? He asked it in a way that no muslim could say no, because you would be denying allah as their power. Why bother with the crap. Ask a bunch of muslims if they think the koran supports terrorism, and ask them why they are not killing non muslims.

    Saudi Arabia..

There was a period after the Iranian crisis when American women were wearing abayas but it wasn't at the request of the SAG. The country was flooded with newbies and they just assumed they had to wear abayas. Dumb.. Same thing happened during the Gulf war.

You quote me where he says anything about terrorism, or quote me the question he frames without allah being the subject of the instruction.

Saudi Arabia has a strict dress code and all women have to wear the Abaya. Its also recommended you have a scarf with you just in case things get nasty.

How can you put up with such nonsense? http://traveltips.usatoday.com/women-traveling-saudi-arabia-43269.html

Last time I was in KSA as a guest of King Salman.. he asked all the American women not to wear abayas.. Its not that big a deal.. The idea is to dress modestly.

US State Dept gets a lot of stuff dead wrong.. Like claiming that Saudis hate the color green or that King Abdullah didn't want any women on the tarmac.

I didn't drive.. and we were usually accompanied by a camera crew and translators that trip, but I did get out alone a few times to shop in the souks.

Women travel alone or in groups all the time.. The thing is not to flirt..

Not special.. The king honored my parents.
