We have to work with what we have in the way of leadership.

Trump is at least loyal to this country.

IMO those who have been facilitating the exportation of our means of production and subverting the reasonable regulations designed to keep our economy functional and a basically level playing field are traitors.

Nobody will watch if Trump isn't there.

Debates at this point in the game are worthless. With Trump in the game, CNN (and others) up the cost to advertisers and they profit immensely.

It is certainly a betrayal of We the People by essentially saying that hardworking Americans are of less value than the profits demanded by the Wall Street Casino bosses. Worshiping the Almighty Dollar is un-American IMO.

CNN should simply remove Trump from the lineup and see how he deals with it.

Trump is not a Republican. Could the party throw him out of the primaries? How does it work?

I think the USA, the Republican Party and American media need to cut this guy loose.
Let him run around without the party to to give him debates and air time.

As he has no voting record and has not "Joined" a party until now....he can be whatever he wishes. I just wish he had decided to be a Democrat.

Indeed. But does the party have the power to throw him out? Has it happened before that a candidate was dropped during the nomination process?

This has never occurred, but I see no reason it cannot...it won't however if only because the party would implode from dissent.

It is unfortunate the once "Grand 'ol Partly" has become such a cluster****

Trump is a populist, nothing more.

Of course the network is not going to comment. To comment acknowledges the possibility of them giving the $5mil to charity, and their obvious refusal (businesses don't stay in the market by giving away $5mil) makes them look heartless to the ignorant, populist masses. At the same time, there's not a chance in hell that Trump will boycott the debate over this. So why would they respond? It's silly.

This is how blatantly populist candidates work. His far-right supporters need to take a second look at his policy views, because being a populist brings all sorts of pesky issues with it: support for state healthcare. Shock! Horror!

Removing the frontrunner of the campaign from the debate is rarely a good idea, I don't care how loony the mainstream sees him.

Hillary isn't out there spewing BS....don't you wish Trump was even close to being as smart as Hillary, or any of the other clowns in the clown van.

Hillary isn't the one making comments that she saw thousands and thousands of Muslim cheering during 9/11.....Trump hasn't been able to produce proof, but you think he's not fooling you? Bwahahaha!

Also, he has you believing that he's going to get Mexico pay for the "beautiful wall" he's going to build.....that's another fantasy that you believe....You are obviously in denial.

He also claimed that he had private investigators in Hawaii uncovering the truth about the POTUS's birth certificate in 2011. I haven't heard anything in regards to their results. I wonder if they are still there and if he has been paying them by the hour...LOL Trump is so FOS.

I get that this is a translucent publicity stunt on the face of it, though Trump doesn't seem to need to manufacture those. I'm just curious why people would be so upset about Trump demanding that at least some of the debate revenue goes to veterans charities. If Clinton demanded that a portion of debate proceeds go to battered women's shelters or she wouldn't participate, would liberals scoff and call her crazy? I imagine they wouldn't, and that conservatives would.

To me the response to this is essentially a partisan split. It's a kind of a dilly stunt, but I think it'd be great if it paid off - Wounded Warriors could use that 5 million, and the free press that vets orgs similarly would get from it would further multiply the gains of veteran charities. And I'd also applaud Clinton if she did something similar for charity.

Yeah, but why should that blowhard be paid to spew more lies?

Trump wanted 5 million to appear in the debate, CNN said 'go pound sand' so Trump is now going to appear for free. Is this an example of the negotiating stills he's always trumpeting?

What are you even talking about? Trump isn't asking to get paid, nor does how much mertex likes him factor into the decision. His presence brings in viewers which, for hosts, brings in money. His presence adds to the station revenue - he's asking for some of that increased revenue to go to charity instead of into the hands of fat cats.

It really sounds like people are only belittling this act because it's Trump. Had Hillary said she wouldn't go into the debate unless the station agreed to donate half the profits to Planned Parenthoos, you wouldn't have liberals calling her names for it, she'd be praised. Which is why, again, I say this is an oddly partisan issue.
