I'm pleasantly surprised by it - it's been pretty fun. One thing I've run into, though, which has surprised me, is that on nearly every mention of the BOS (Brotherhood of Steel) I've seen online, everyone's crapping on them for being (insert synonym for "meanie)'s. :confusion:

I'm curious if anyone else has been playing it and, if so, which is your preferred faction. I freaking love playing with the BOS, and I really don't see any issue with them. They're a tad xenophobic (that is, suspicious of things they don't understand), but most of their supposed xenophobia seems entirely justified. Their main targets are: ghouls (essentially walking zombies who will attack any human on sight), super mutants (big green hulks who will attack anyone on sight), and synths (robots working for the Institute, a high-tech organization that really doesn't give two craps about anyone outside of their org, and is trying to replace real people with robot copies). Doesn't seem so bad to me. And I'v had to wonder if part of it is my miltary background - I mean, I see their objectives, and I see a point - the BOS aren't softies, and I get it and am okay with it, but apparently most people don't like the BOS because (as an example) they don't care if so-and-so's brother became a ghoul, they kill them anyway without remorse. And that honestly makes sense to me. I think, if there were a zombie apocalypse, any zombie would need to be killed - it doesn't matter what attachment you have to who they were, who they were no longer exists.

At any rate, I'm curious what your thoughts on the BOS are, and which factions your prefer to play with in FO4. For anyone who finds this interesting but doesn't play, I've included pics of ghouls, super mutants, and synths in that order, with a BOS knight in last.

I've never played a Fallout game; several years ago I played "Elder Scrolls Oblivion" which was made by the same company, and despite the rave reviews I was disappointed - I felt that the combat, plot, dialogue, etc was lackluster and very repetitive, and that the game was overhyped due to the graphics alone. From what I head heard the Fallout games were basically Elder Scrolls but in a post-apocalyptic world instead of a fantasy world.

From what you posted above though this looks pretty radically different than what I remember of Elder Scrolls. I'm assuming this is single-player right. If you'd care to elaborate on the differences that would be very interesting to hear from someone who's played it.

Yeah its pretty good, and it's single player. Oblivion wasn't that bad, play it through and it can be rewarding, but it was overhyped - things like faces threw oblivion off for its time.

For Elder Scrolls, Sky rim is the height - the best they made, and I'd still recommend it. If you can catch it on a steam sale you can get it for about 5 bucks.

Fallout 4 isn't radically different from Elder Scrolls - they use the same core engine, but it's different enough and is fun.

I thought about buying it but I simply can't forgive Bethsada for those horrible graphics. Everybody seems to be lining up to give Bethsada a free pass for the game looking like that simply because it's Fallout. Well yeah I get it, gameplay over graphics but not to that extent. If anybody else would have released a game looking like that in 2015 then the community would eat them alive. The Witcher 3 is a great looking game that was downgraded in the first place due to console limitations and the community went after them hard, and thats CDPR, one of the most beloved studies in gaming and even they didn't get a free pass.

The game literally looks like a middle of last gen title. I don't expect all games to look like Star Citizen or Battlefront but they can at least try. I have a very good gaming PC, I'm not funding studios who don't even at least try to cater to my audience anymore.

Devs need to stop cutting corners. It's sad, Star Wars Battlefront is a gorgeous game but the game itself is garbage. Fallout 4 from what I heard is a great game but the graphics are garbage. Find a happy medium and stop being lazy, The Witcher 3 was able to make an amazing looking game with amazing gameplay, so can the rest of these studios.
