Active rig counts in the US are dramatically down, probably cut in half from a year ago. Pipelines, transport, and refining are still hanging on, but exploration, production, and drilling have markedly fallen off.

These companies in western North Dakota, eastern Montana, west Texas, and Pennsylvania are now operating in negative cash flows. I know a guy who drives through Calgary, and he saw the declines last year in that area.

This same thing happened in 1980s. I have a relative who went over to Texas in 1980. He went with friends to work in construction because oil was the next big thing. The same thing that happened then is happening now: oil prices plummeted.

Equipment in Texas sat idle and rusted out. The boom that many predicted did not even last three years. Oodles of places went bankrupt. Construction and real estate hit rock bottom. You could get an office space lease for a song in downtown Houston 1986.

The only reason that people forgot all of this is that telecommunications took off with things like cable and the internet in the 1990s. Many, many internet start-ups however, went bust shortly after the turn of the millennium. For example, many book start-ups thought they were going to be the next Amazon, but the book industry actually consolidated. Now, the global internet has reached billions and the second wave of web entrepreneurship took off. I can already however, start to see declines in that.

Harking back to 1986. The other thing that distracted us was something called the Gulf War. Same thing today, except now we're distracted by "ISIS." Have fun watching those fake Youtube beheadings while the US economy continues to go down the toilet.

The die-hards of the 1980s just won't die. They've resurrected the glory days of the 1950s all over again. Fighting the ghosts of communism. I wonder how many more clueless high school kids today actually think we won Vietnam.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA. Oh please don't kid yourself. You are in no way worthy enough to be on his level. You certainly do not get paid to be here. No. You're to insignificant to be one of his associates. But look at your post history. In not one single post have you had even a slightly legitimate post. All of them are exactly like the few comments you've posted on this thread. Everyone. Based on that its pretty obvious to all what you are. No you are not a paid Kremlin disinformation agent. No. You are just a regular plain old Internet (we're not allowed to say this word that starts with a T) plain and simple. That's all you are.

if Russia was stupid enough to attack/invade Lithuania, Latvia, or any other NATO state, they would learn very hashly and quickly how much the USA respect's its military commitments.

    hahahaa!!!

the UN Security Council cannot stop the USA from defending a NATO ally.

all they can do is watch and smell the mushroom clouds.

Of course not. The US is not a reliable partner. The United States is not fulfilling its obligations. This is what we vidili, for example, in Yugoslavia ..... But the "Topol M" or "Bulova" could easily stop the US.....And it will happen soon. To avoid such a development is almost impossible....Unfortunately

    US Army:
In 2006, four nasal missile parts were mistakenly sent to Taiwan with electrical fuses for nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles.
In 2007 over the United States few hours flying B-52 bomber with six nuclear warheads on board. In his report on the causes of what happened the Pentagon explained that the components of the nuclear arsenal is too much, and all simply impossible to keep track.
In 2013, the Pentagon contractor lost somewhere in Afghanistan a few drones.
In 2014 one of the suppliers lost 27 thousand cars belonging to the US military.
In 2014 the employees of American bases sent courier each other keys to install nuclear warheads.
In 2015, a military laboratory mailed to anthrax spores in all States and in some foreign countries. A few months later, history repeated itself. This time employees of the Pentagon posted samples of bubonic plague.
And the last, amusing case where Precision American missiles "Hellfire" - turn up in Cuba, which is located under sanctions.

Before you save the world, Americans need to escape from the madhouse.

I note that you cant read english. You write the nonsense. The article says nato will do whatever is necessary to defend their members, and report to the security council, but it doesnt need the approval of the council to do anything. Russian veto doesnt mean anything.

The US will help europe. But even if they dont, europa has their own nukes. If russia attacks, russia will get nuked. Are they stupid enough to attack?

    Again.
"Do not expect that once taken advantage of Russia's weakness, you will receive dividends forever. Russian always come for their money. And when they come - do not rely on the Jesuit agreement you signed, you are supposed to justify. They are not worth the paper it is written. Therefore, with the Russian cost or fair play or no play. " (Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck-Schönhausen)

Peter 1 bought the Baltic countries at the Swedish king. These lands belong to Russia. Is not it? But if you want a war - it's your choice.

By the way, you are looking in vain for help from other countries. There are historical examples.
For example. 1939 год. France and Britain has an agreement with Poland on military aid. This treaty obliges Britain and France to enter the war against Germany in the event of war in Poland. So what?
France and Britain have not fulfilled their commitments to Poland. Despite the fact that the allied forces of Britain and France in the fall of 1939 in all respects superior to Germany. And had a unique opportunity to develop the offensive in this the short term its military superiority over the Wehrmacht and the impact on the fate of all the peoples of Europe, including their own. Until the end of hostilities in Poland, the German command was not able to transfer on Western Front no one military unit (Besides Division Highland Fusiliers).
Therefore, if you are willing to fight - be prepared to fight alone. As well as Russian.

Russia has officially recognised all of the baltic states, which means russia itself has said they do not belong to russia. Or are you saying russia is a lying (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bag? Very plausible.

You know that world war 2 happened after germany invaded poland, and that germany lost the war, after millions of people died? Is that what you want russia to do? Genius

I know that during the period of the Second World War, Sweden, actively assisted Nazi Germany. For this purpose, it worked almost all Swedish heavy industry. Even in 1944 in Germany was directed to 80% of Swedish exports, the key articles of which were steel and ball bearings. According to the well-known statistics from the Swedish raw material it was made up to a third of all German ammunition and weapons. So, in other words, for every third bullet, every third whizzbang, every third bomb, that killed soldier anti-Hitler coalition, we should be "grateful" to the Swedes.
Also, I know that in 1941 was created "Swedish volunteer battalion / Svenska frivilligbataljonen". The battalion was part of the Finnish fascist army, which seized the north-west the USSR in 1941-1944.
So do not Swede tell about world war 2. And dead people. Is not it?

As for the Baltic states. Reread Bismarck.

The Baltic states are recognized by Russia and the UN as legitimate, independent and soverign states.

if Russia chose to suddenly unrecognize this, than the legitimacy of Russia's government would be put into question and perhaps require regime change and/or liberation by outside forces, just as Nazi Germany required.

    1. You wrote nonsense. You live in the United States. In the US there case law. You, as a US citizen, should know this. The UN also adheres to the concept of "case law". After the bombing of Yugoslavia and the recognition of Kosovo, all the questions the legitimacy of removed. It was your (U.S.) choice of application of international law. So I suggest you also read Bismarck.

2.Never say never. I for example confident that in the near future we are will be able to visit the Metropolitan Opera in the Russian city of New York.

I do not eat McDonald's and other your favorite foods. I like the Hare in garlic sauce, starlet in sour cream, borscht and pancakes with caviar. I will feed you to Russian products.

But I like your intelligence. You think that America will become the city, as the size of St. Petersburg? ....Well ... maybe you're right...

In other words you want to say that America is going to become part of Russia? In this case, I'll eat McDonalds. And I will be rooting for the Texas Rangers. But you agree with me go to the Metropolitan Opera. In the Russian city of New York. I heard there is a great acoustics. We will listen to Wagner! "Ride of the Valkyries," for example.

Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries was very popular with Hitler and the Nazis.

    maybe they are Putin's grandparents?

But we will listen no Hitler, but Wagner.... Or would you prefer Hitler? .... But ... if you want ... we can listen to Tchaikovsky. "The Nutcracker", you want?

Incidentally, Hitler also liked to listen to Bach, Beethoven. In general, he loved classical music. Not bad draw. And well versed in the art. Therefore, you do not like classical music? But maybe you want to listen to Limp Bizkit? I do not mind.

Among other things David Bowie died today. Two days before that finished a new single and video. He died of cancer. I'm sorry.

I think the attempt to expand NATO eastward will go down as the stupidest foreign policy blunder in modern history. It will likely result in a world wide nuclear war.

I think what Putin is doing will go down as one of the stupidest things. He's trying to make russia great, but he damages their economy and diplomatic relations, and in the long run they can't afford to keep up militarily. Putin will be remembered as someone who speeded up the inevitable fall of russia.
