The word "data" is plural, and the data are released on regular set schedules.

Set schedules is right, set to give maximum cover for Obama.

    The poster was being ironic

Congress does not have much impact on retail sales
    Nor does the administration

My COLA adjustment on my SSI was $0 as was my fathers, food and other costs are up so we cut down on our spending this year on discretionary items. And a lot of people get government benefit checks. So is it so odd we might opt to not spend much money as a big consumer block. So retail businesses can suck it up and next year push Congress to give us money to spend by increasing our checks.

Thank you for proving my point. The schedule was for the report to be released the same day as Obama's state of the union and it was held until three days after the speech.

Um, the link shows that the report was released on January 15, as scheduled -- not January 12. What are you looking at?

    Future release dates:

    February 12
    March 15
    April 13
    May 13

I'm not seeing a pattern there that would support the claim that it was SUPPOSED to be released on January 12.

On what basis do you say that?

These reports have a pre announced schedule date
    Scheduled long in advance
So investors will know when the report is arriving

As per my link, this one scheduled on the 15 th

    In general
This report is scheduled on or about the 13th
Which means sometimes a day or two earlier or later
But what ever date it is
    Is scheduled long in advance

    http://www.investopedia.com/university/releases/retailsales.asp

    If the report was delayed
The investment community would be all atwitter
    Which they are not

    Hey
    Use google
Do a search for retail sales report delayed

    I did the search
    Anyone can

The government will only increase SS, etc. based on an inflation index. So, based on the math, if inflation increases so does SS, etc., however, the SS increase will be 100% offset by the inflation increase so you will never have increased purchasing power.

More about the math...in order for government to pay out SS, etc. they take 100% of those monies from the public in the form of FICA and other taxes. If government is extracting this money from the public, in order to pay out SS, etc., then all we have is moving dollars from taxpayers to dollars for SS recipients giving us zero economic gains...

It's the "Millennial Generation," to young to remember what quality is or was and when they make a purchase they buy cheap stuff that was manufactured in third world countries. Not knowing what quality is, they don't demand quality.

The milennials refuse to make major purchases, they are happy as clams with just a smart phone. Many still refuse to get a real job and still live with their parents. This could be because they went to college and majored in liberal arts and earned a useless diploma.

This is the same generation that destroyed the music industry, instead of spending money on a CD they decided on going for free stuff and illegally downloaded music on their PC and Macs during the 1990's and early 2000's.

This is the same generation not knowing what quality is and voted for a community organizer for President.
