I did and it seems I was misinformed, my apologies.

    http://mentalfloss.com/article/30528/operation-eagle-claw-disastrous-rescue-attempt-during-iranian-hostage-crisis

Makes no difference to the SAS.

During that one they worked with Delta Force who decided to launch their assault on the wrong cave. The SAS commander told them 'no problem' his team had already successfully rescued all four hostages and killed 11 kidnappers within minutes of assaulting the correct cave. :clapping:

-I- didn't specify any blast at all.
The point here is that we have some knowledge of the effects of a nuclear attack on warships; these effects are not quite as harsh as the posts I responded to would suggest.

Sorry. I either misinterpreted your posts or I responded to someone else's thinking it was yours.

And now we have Trump trumpeting even more military spending! I don't think he means it personally, but I see him saying that to try and win over the overly paranoid and fearful right-wing voters, people who seem to be deathly afraid of a long list of silly, overblown threats.

Not to take anything away from the SAS, but again there's a difference between an operation in an active war zone where you already have troops on the ground and have freedom of movement, and a raid deep inside a hostile country thousands of miles from your nearest base.

There's also a difference between going up against a ragged band of African rebels, and a full-fledged military like Iran has.

For a real comparison, look at the Raid on Entebbe. Uganda was nowhere near as formidable a foe as Iran, the airport was on the outskirts of town instead of right in the middle -- but the basics are the same: a long-range commando raid to rescue a large group of hostages.

That's why the Israeli raid is legendary -- it was not an easy thing to pull off.

Cool ... ok so ships were not vaporized at 1/4 mile roughly 450 yards but they were sunk at near that distance and ships at distances over a mile (2200 yards) were seriously damaged. The key fact here is that none of the Ships could ever be used again due to radiation contamination.

Also Able was an air detonation intentionally done high enough so that the ships would not be sucked into the fireball.

Keep in mind as well that this was a baby 26 kt.

The king of meaningless platitudes "We are going to make our military strong again" and stupidities "Strong enough so that no one will mess with us"

We already have the strongest military by far. Certainly strong enough to kill terrorists. Making it stronger is not going to make us any more able to kill them nor make them less willing to mess with us.

As far as power such as Russia go. There is no such thing as "Stronger" that has any meaning. When one has the ability to destroy the world 5 times over ... does being able to get to 10 make much difference ?

    Abject stupidity.

    :salute:

Yep. It's not like anyone is "messing with us" as it is now. Not even close. We go around and mess with everyone else! We mess with China and Russia all we please, and we're even worse with smaller, weaker countries. We invade them and install new governments as we please, for crying out loud...

God, our politics are stupid. Just across the board, across the parties, everywhere. Just stupid.

Russian fachists are very active on the forum and blood is spilling from their mouths.
History is history. If you are giving me examples regarding 17 wars between Ottomans and Russians then you must know that it is Turkiye WHO made all Russians free from CHAR Regym when Turkiye has beaten British and French armies in Dardanelles. So,I suggest you not to start playing history game with me cause you will loose it,100% sure about that.

Armenian issue is not called genocide,is not accepted as genocide by United Nations. It is a political toy between Turkiye and other countries. When the relations are bad with Turkiye then these lies are heated and put on the table. A Russian can not teach a Turk anything regarding Armenian genocide as it was Russians and French WHO armed Armenians and supported them to fight against their own country. Again, I remind you what I have advised you above. I am not a fachist like you.

By the way, where is Constantinople? What is that? Anything you do at your message all proove how racist, how fachist, how unlogical guy are you.
But it is normal for a nation WHO goes to space but can not know how to produce toothpaste or WHO has nuclear weapons but can not know how to produce women socks.
You have so many nations in your country. And there are many Turkish nations in your country. You'd better stop being fachist and try to have good relations with all your nations.

You also mentioned about Treaty of Moscow. Of course the information is totally wrong. But in any case,if most of the Russians think like you do, I mean if you think that Turkiye has to return 30% of its lands to Russians, then we Turks love relationship,we like to hug other people. Come to Turkiye and ask for this 30% return. Come on! Try it!

    We have our army.
    Our country.
Our border with Syrians. So,if Russia has the balls, try whatever they can. I do not want to repeat and repeat and repeat. Nuke all Turks otherwise all Russians will have no peace. This is not a threat. This is not a racist comment but this is the reality.

Your kind Mr. Putin is a coward and very cruel dictateur like Erdogan. But the only difference is Putin is number 1, Erdogan is number 2.

I think that soon we will see all. And you find out where is Constantinople.
You've heard of the prediction of the Arab scholar Musta-Eddin for Sultan Murat?
Sultan once asked the question: "will Safely my reign?, and for a long time whether there will be the Ottoman Empire?, and by whom it will be destroyed?" This question Musta Eddin answered: "Sire! You will live in the world as long as will want. You win all their enemies; and no one will defeat you; but until then, while you maintain peaceful relations with the people who live in the north. Nation this strong and glorious, and his name will be booming all over the world, and all will obey them. From this great nation fall power of your heritage. Such is the will of God!"
Murat, having heard this prediction, ordered to kill Musta-Eddin for he did not divulge these predictions for people. Sultan sent Kapija- Pasha with a group of slaves to take astronomer and throw it into the sea.
Musta-Eddin, met the killers at the entrance of his house, he said to them: "Peace be with you! The judgment of God will never pass. I know that today will be a prey of marine fish, But the kingdom of the North will own your descendants. "

If we talk about that Russian do not know how to sew socks .... There are nations who fly into space, build nuclear power plants, mastering depths of the sea and so on .... But there is a nation who produce socks.

Also, if we memory of the Musta-Eddin, he said, ".... but until then, while you maintain peaceful relations with the people who live in the north ...."
The Turks shot down Russian aircraft. The Turks killed Russian pilot. The Turks go to war. If Turkey enters in Syria - the prediction will come true.

Cause planes never crash in the sea? Especially back in the 50s and 60s. Hell with all of today's technology and satellites and what the world still managed to lose a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing commercial airliner with hundreds on board.

That website is terribly inaccurate. The bomb jettisoned by the B-36 didn't have its plutonium core so was not technically a "nuclear weapon".

It is also utterly impossible for the two nuclear weapons aboard the U.S.S. Scorpion to have had that much explosive yield.

All you really need to do is build a torpedo large enough to hold a Tsar Bomba. That would be a really dumb weapon to try to make, but there is no reason why it can't be done.

The US was thinking about gigaton-yield tsunami torpedoes back in the 1950s. If anything, Putin's silly little torpedo is ridiculously impotent.

It is 100 megatons because that is the biggest bomb that Russia can make.

A proper tsunami torpedo like the ones that the US was conceiving of in the 1950s would have a yield of a gigaton. But Russia isn't capable of making one of those.

Not so much exaggeration as a failure to measure up to international standards. America was conceiving of tsunami torpedoes with gigaton yields back in the 1950s.

Putin's pathetic little torpedo just can't manage to measure up.

No. America did no such thing. We dropped atomic bombs on important military targets.

1000 megaton ? yikes .. that is insane .. but yeah .. for specialized applications you might use such a weapon targeting cities and military installations though you would not use those .. 100 x 1 megaton bombs will do much more damage than one 100 megaton.

I agree. And that's why the US never developed them.
