So a woman kills one of her children to give a better standard of living to the other two?
What mother would even consider doing this?!?

Abortion is not killing "a child." It's getting old and boring repeating this.

No... a woman might consider aborting the FETUS that would sabotage her ability to provide a good life for children when she is better situated to manage a family.

wow.... makes you wonder why people have sex at all right?? Yet the population continues to grow and there are millions happy parents (that includes the mother by the way) who have a different view of motherhood.

If it is this bad, how do you suggest we procreate?

That's like saying a person has no right to clip his toenails because one may feel that shedding your body of unwanted nails us wrong.

This is very interesting. So what is your opinion of a couple who want to have children? Are you saying they are certifiably insane? I do not argue the validity of your list, but it makes you sound like pregnancy is a sin or some form of evil medical condition. Please elaborate for us.

Who were you addressing? What post are you talking about?

Use the quote function. Then posters know who you are addressing and what quote you're responding to.......and it let's posters know you responded.

And if no one is willing to take the baby then what? Just imagine if 10,000,000 babies were born due to abortion being illegal and 60% remain unclaimed by would-be adoptive parents. Multiply that times 10 years and who is going to pay to feed, clothe, medical & educate these babies?
The bottom line is this; if you don't believe in abortion, don't have one.

    You are correct.

And idiots screaming, "she could adopt it out , it's so easy"....NEVER want to admit that no one, not even a woman, should be forced into 9 months of pain, financial loss, possible job loss, recurring doctors visits, setbacks in career and /or education , the pain and permanent damage pregnancy does to a woman's body and the pain and expense of child birth.......all to give the kid to someone else?!!!!! That is not just stupid but totally INSANE.

While I am a pro lifer, you must understand that the right to have an abortion existed under the Anglo Saxon common law as I have documented on this forum previously.

Please see Black's law commentaries and his explication of "quickening".

No woman owes you an explanation for the choices she makes regarding her personal health care and up until the fetus becomes viable, the only regulations involving abortion should be strictly medical for safety and effect.

Once the fetus becomes viable abortion availability should be restricted to those cases where carrying to term would pose a clear threat to the life of the mother.

YES to comprehensive sex education. Not enough parents are willing to be honest and open with their children about sex, so there are far too many young people who believe what they hear from their friends (like the myth that you can't get pregnant the first time). They need a reality check from a reliable source.

Numerous studies have shown that when a mother kills one of her offspring in utero it becomes more difficult for her to form a close knit bond with her other subsequent offspring. She aborted one of them for material reasons; how can she fully love the others?

The unborn is exerting control over the woman's body (unintentionally to be sure, but doing so nevertheless). The question you ask doesn't apply to the woman because the unborn is already inside of and using the woman's body before we even start debating what to do about it. Would you permit anyone to try to use your body in any way without your consent? Would you approve of a law that requires you to donate an organ to the fatally ill while you are alive?

And you have non-biased stats and verification of that ridiculous accusation?

And what do you care if she does or doesn't....??

If you put the other person into a situation where they are now reliant upon you for survival, then yes, there become obligations.

That would be like you recklessly crashing into another car and now the other person needs to be temporarily hooked up to someone else for survival until that person's organs can begin functioning again on their own. You owe them.

The woman doesn't have to give up any of her organs, she just has to let someone else have the use of them for a while...

Brizon's body is failing and he needs to borrow the use of Zev's bodily organ functions to survive

Like a sex slave who "just has to let someone else have use of her vagina for a while"?

A better analogy would be this: If you invite a person into your house and he attacks you, you are obligated to protect your attacker instead of yourself. After all, you invited him.

If there's no right to have an abortion, there's really no right to prevent a woman from having one either. This position assumes the opposite of the pro-choice position, that abortions are inherently evil and shouldn't be allowed which fails every logical test much more so than those who subscribe to the belief that people have bodily autonomy.

But in this country, the de facto right to an abortion does exist because it is illegal to prevent a woman from having one because of Roe V. Wade. If you're not allowed to prevent someone from having one, that's pretty much the same thing as having the right to have one.

The right to breathe or drink water isn't spelled out in any laws, yet no one argues that we don't have that right.

You don't know what analogy means?

    - - - Updated - - -

This is very interesting but help me understand this part: """This position assumes the opposite of the pro-choice position, that abortions are inherently evil and shouldn't be allowed which fails every logical test much more so than those who subscribe to the belief that people have bodily autonomy. """

Can you re-word it...I'll admit I'm not the quickest learner...

I would be interested in reading the details of one of those studies. Do you have a link to a study to support that conclusion?

I know a few women who have had abortions before they found stability in their lives, and none of them had any problem bonding with their children when they were finally able to find a good partner. One, in particular, had to make a very difficult decision because the pregnancy would have forced her and the newborn to remain in an abusive relationship that might have cost both of them their lives. As a result of that experience she is even more appreciative of the children she has now.
