Many folks in Russia worshiup Stalin like he was God, or a saint. is this because they are desperate for a strong leader? they miss the days when Stalin was conquering nation after nation? they long for the Gulags, NKVD, Cheka, no freedom of speech or press?
it's psychology. Russians have been told a romanticised story about how Stalin was a strong -if stern- leader who defended russia against the evil nazis and who liberated europe. The perception of Stalin is strongly tied to the perception of the USSR as a whole. The truth is that Stalin was a brutal dictator, and the USSR was an evil empire which commited innumerable crimes against humanity against both it's own people and conquered people. Russians would rather not face the fact that what they've been brought up to believe was a lie. Collective guilt is a real thing... just look at the germans. They're collectively traumatised by their actions under Hitler. Their shame and guilt is enormous. Russians are guilty of similar crimes, but they don't want to admit to themselves what they did. Many Germans were in denial as well, thinking it was impossible Germany did what they did. The Germans however, were occupied by the allies, and the allies made clear to the germans the crimes of the nazis. The Russians have not been defeated in war nor occupied.. There is no one to force the truth on them as it was for the germans. The only ones who can do it are the russians themselves, but it's much easier to pretend the crimes never happened, or to come up with excuses. In short, Stalin is tied to the Russian nation. If they admit Stalin was evil, they will also have to admit the evil actions of their own country, which is very uncomfortable.
i think many Russians sadly are desperate for a strong authoritarian father figure, just as many Chinese are. they dont trust their own people to be able to run a society. they don't trust freedom of the press or speech. they need a strong God-like figure to save them, just as the Germans needed Hitler
Cultural-marxism revisionism. Look at the face of Comrade Stalin. Notice anything ? His face has been airbrushed. That's PC revisionism. Comrade Stalin's face was heavily pockmarked from smallpox. Here is a historically correct photo of Stalin. -> http://iliketowastemytime.com/sites...al-photos-pt10-joseph-stalin-mugshot-1911.png
Or like back in 2008 when the uninformed and misinformed Americans needed Obama. Well that didn't work out to well did it. What did Stalin, Hitler and Obama all have in common ? They were organizers, political community organizers.
Obama respects freedom, Hitler and Stalin did not. Obama respects democracy, unlike Hitler and Stalin Hitler and Stalin saw their citizens as sheep to be controlled, herded, and murdered.
he's no compared to a Saint or other religious figure. somehow, China, Russia, North Korea need to have a leader worthy of worship.
So far it's worked out pretty well. Has he been perfect? No. Was he better than Bush I & II, well... that's a pretty low-bar to measure from. All political figures are organizers in some manner. For instance, Reagan was twice elected as President of the Screen Actors Guild, a labor union for actors.
Because the Communist Stalinist State was religious with all the pomp and dogma of any religion with Stalin on the top and so it not odd its the same structure Hitler had for his government and Mao.
Haven't you ever belonged to a union before ? Union presidents aren't organizers, they are the ones who negotiate union contracts and payoff politicians. Union organizers like community organizers agitate, cause trouble and recruit new union soldiers or anarchist and are students of Alinskyism. Saul Alinsky established schools to train agitators aka organizers, the Industrial Areas Foundation. -> http://www.industrialareasfoundation.org/
Sounds similar to the Americans whose own government blackmailed Islam to take over the middle east by professionally demolishing towers. But, you know, collective guilt & all.
That's literally just airbrushing. When the hell does culture get involved with it? Hell, Marxism is only tangentially involved. Political correctness is like synergy. Something people talk about when they want to seem like they know things but ultimately say nothing meaningful. Seriously, having your photo airbrushed is just a petty act of vanity. I don't understand why you think this is some important revelation. That's common knowledge. I'm pretty sure most of that is stubble, given that I've seen unedited photos before and most of his pockmarks are on his chin.
For all of his many faults, it was Russia under stalin that marched into Berlin ending the war. First Russia got their butts handed to them by the Japanese in what was the first real modern war, and then WW1 resulted in another devastating loss.
That's a pretty good photo. Still, I feel like a large amount of the previous photo had to be stubble, because it wasn't that grotesque. Smallpox scars aren't that dark and thick.
The irony is Stalin was Georgian. Many Russians hate Georgians. Stalin killed many Russians too. So, why would they support a person who was Georgian, and killed Russians?
no he was an ethnically seen a Abkhazian. he is from Gori in Abkhasia, an own ethnicity which is close related to russians and hatefull to Georgians. Stalin was the biggest Leader of the 20th Century! Winston Churchil said about him, he got the Russia of the wooden plow but left it as Atomic Superpower. He had also an interessting youth where he was a Terrorirst, Bankrobber, Pirate, Syndicate Boss, Kidnapper... and the Mainfinancier of the October Revolution, who lived in spartanic, not corrupt bastards like today...
