Israeli news such as http://www.israelnationalnews.com/ , J-post or Haarez (though I have to say I'm not sure which way Haarez propaganda turns to but it is propaganda), and anything else that quotes the Israeli politicians in their news, or publishes speculative op-eds from whatever-experts.

    Huh?

That's a lot of nothing backed by more, pure nothing. There's no such thing as anti-world Israeli propaganda.

Oh, so now quoting a politician is propaganda?

Is everything newspapers publish in every country in the world state-sanctioned propaganda, or is this honorary title reserved for Israeli newspapers only?

Oh, I thought it was to 'bring democracy' to the country (even though they didn't ask for it nor want it but we know what's best for you Johnny Foreigners? ). Or was it to destroy opium production? Or I heard something about it being to modernise the country by building dams and other infrastructure (albeit they didn't ask for any of that either? ). Then again, was not the purpose of the invasion to teach the Afghans how to treat their women, and allow them to be educated? I mean, it couldn't have been to find OBL 'cos that would be a chance in a zillion in a mountainous country like Afghanistan - the very idea of that being feasible would have been laughed out of the Pentagon. No, I honestly think the real reason was to prove that whilst the Russians couldn't manage do any of that, the good ol' US of A was arrogant enough to believe it could. It reminds me of a little ditty which seems quite appropriate, and it goes something like this:

They said it was a job that couldn't be done, but with a smile he went to it. He tackled that job that couldn't be done - and couldn't do it! [IMG]

    Nope. It was for the reasons I stated. Bush stated them right here;

"Deliver to U.S. authorities all the leaders of Al Qaeda [terrorist organization] that hide in your land.

"Release all foreign nationals including American citizens you have unjustly imprisoned.

"Protect all journalists, diplomats and aid workers in your country.

"Close immediately and permanently every terrorist training camp in Afghanistan and hand over every terrorist and every person in their support structure to appropriate authorities.

"Give the US full access to terrorist training camps so we make sure they are no longer operating."

Like I said - what were the chances of that? As for the other 'reasons' - they're merely a collection of meaningless subterfuges to 'justify' the invasion, which was for the purpose I mentioned above. And I never heard anything about 'training camps being closed down'? I don't know whether you have any evidence that any were?

    Op-eds from experts?
Why are you interested in Israeli news? What would you assume their opinion of your country is?

Why didn't you invade Saudi, UAE, Lebanon, Egypt or Pakistan?

The rest of your argument remains effective hogwash because the principal reason for invading Afghanistan was the Unacol pipeline and to show the world the US was serious about its new doctrine.

On the contrary it was a very obvious canard and a deflection because you designedly avoided the point I was making about the US invasion of Iraq, in order to rid Iraq and Saddam of weapons of mass destruction - which didn't exist anyway. That was just the excuse to get the US public to accept the war which was principally designed to overthrow former friend and ally, Saddam, dismantle his the Ba'athist regime, in order to bring an immediate end to Saddam selling Iraqi oil for Euro's in place of the dollar. It was also a warning to OPEC not to switch to the Euro too - as well as sending a message to the world that from now on the US was going to act on their new doctrine to combat any challenge to their diktat anywhere in the world.

Yes, but NATO involvement also wasn't the point I was making. As you know. And I have to say it's enjoyable watching you keep wriggling on the hook here by deflecting away from the historical fact of the US engineered and led invasion of Iraq for the reasons cited above.

I always enjoy watching how these double standards and hypocrisy form such an integral part of discussion by many US posters on this forum. I'm referring, of course, to your statement above about what you regard as the required protocols of "good debate" where the use of the term "canard" is not permitted, but sly sarcasm in the form of calendar reading is permitted in your world. As I say, blatant hypocrisy - but no surprise any longer.

NATO didn't send troops to Yemen to eradicate training camps for European-born terrorists who then went to commit terrorist acts on European soil. What is NATO defending, I wonder.

EU is illegally building settlements in the West Bank, so why would its members send troops to protect those they act against? Or, why would they risk their soldiers' lives in fights with IDF, if they can achieve their ideals of peace and harmony with Arab blood?

All of the above might have been used as excuses or apparent motives for the invasion of Afghanistan, but the truth is that the US had no other option than go to war.

Well it certainly wasn't to destroy the world's best cash crop. Troops have been returning with stories of guarding opium fields. All though they may have destroyed a small crop for propaganda sake. Afghanistan continues to be the world leader in opium production since America invaded back in 2002-03. Supporting facts can be seen right in your home town the heroin epidemic didn't start until troops landed in Afghanistan and won't end until we leave Afghanistan. Every time America invades an opioid rich country (Vietnam, Afghanistan) an epidemic breaks out back home.

the premise of this thread is about why NATO doesn;t go into the west bank and the answer is clear. The'west bank' has not attacked a NATO member. If the PLO started to attack Western countries again then we should retaliate , however that seems rather unlikley.

op-eds are full of articles from experts of some sort who say things like, (not a direct quotation) "maybe now that the terrorists, due to the west's incapability to do anything about them, have found their way to Europe, Europe will start to understand the problem Israel has with the Palestinians." or "marking to products made in Israel, where they have been made in exactly, is anti-Semitism. Whatever the world does they find some anti-Jew meaning in it. The main problem about them is that the wide spread newspapers keep publishing the rubbish.

What am I supposed to read to know what is going on in Israel and the Middle East? I also read Iranian, Saudi Arabian, Afghan, Pakistani, Lebanon and Turkish news. There is no particular media to trust so I follow them all. I have never seen them say anything about my country, they always just refer to Europe and its anti-Semitism. I don't follow the world reflecting it to my country alone. I just want to understand.

If you believe 19 people living in caves could make norad stand down and hijack 4 planes with box cutters then yes you had no choice but to invade two countries that had absolutely nothing to do with it.... makes perfect sense to a buffoon

I don't get that - you mean go to war against a country to find one man who might or might not have been hiding somewhere in it, and he wasn't even an Afghan anyway, but a Saudi? I believe that if the word had been put out that a nice big bounty of US dollars was waiting for the finder of OBL he would have been offered up within a week.

Maybe America invades when the terrorists get a hold of the system and start working on the opium.

Russia is miserable due to NATO leaving Afghanistan. They don't want to go waste their time there. Unfortunately its right next to them and they bring all the drugs to Russia, with the help of Russian security organizations.

Actually I learnt from Bitter Lake that the Americans wanted to keep the poppy fields flourishing, and that the Taliban were doing their level best to destroy them. Maybe that's where the stories of your troops guarding them came from - they were guarding the poppy fields so they couldn't be destroyed by the enemy? That's so unbelievable as to be surreal in the circumstances.

Yes exactly, Americans are so greedy they would sell their own mother's into slavery for the mighty dollar. I would know I live among them.

"Defensive"? Are you serious? How was the invasion of Iraq anything but aggression and who was NATO supposed to be defending?

Op-eds are opinion editorials typically written by marginally popular political commentators.
I find it hard to believe a 31 year old shipping clerk in Finland is reading every Middle Eastern newspaper.
I am so thankful I live on this side of the globe.
So thankful for Canadians to my north and Mexicans to my south and South America south of that. So thankful for the oceans that divide North and South America from that hemisphere of crazy.
We hate Muslims. I imagine we're over there raping them of their only commodity. We gave Native Americans some beads and corn for half this country then covered them up with blankets laced with small pox to reservations most died on the way to. Farmer patriots made England retreat. We dropped atom bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. We landed on the moon. The world speaks our language. No country can hold a candle to our invention, ingenuity, wealth, and influence.
A 21 year old Finnish female shipping clerk who gorges on op-ed expert news all over the Middle East.
In America we'd reply with I've got some ocean front property in Arizona I'll sell you.

It had to be done to clip Saddam's expansionist wings. Our mistake was in topping him rather than to ask him - beg him if necessary - to stay on, and look what the result has been and still is! The West seems to be accident-prone in the ME, and I know why - A) they're smarter than we are, and B) we don't understand the ME mind-set and we never will.

The reason for this is simple; when, for example, was the last time you ever heard, saw or read anything from the Palestinian side in your media? All you ever hear is how the evil Muslims are hell-bent on destroying Israel, pushing it into the sea, establishing a Caliphate while the poor, defenceless Israeli victims are cowering under a deluge of rocket attacks. This pro-Israeli propaganda has been carefully fed to you by Washington for decades.
Luckily the advent of the internet has given people the ability to find the truth out for themselves. The Israeli government hate the internet vehemently, hence the policy of 'hasbara'; operatives paid to spread Israeli propaganda over the web in an attempt to counter any criticism of Israel and Israeli policy vis-a-vis the Palestine question. We have seen several of them here from time to time.

    https://www.sott.net/signs/hasbara.pdf

If you're genuinely interested in this I suggest you read Gaza in Crisis by Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappe for a window on the reality of the situation.

I live 30 minutes southwest of Atlanta. 25 minutes from Hartsfield Jackson Airport. The busiest airport in the world.
Heroin is very expensive and not easy to find.
It is an opiate. An opioid is a synthetic twinsie prosuced in a lab, not natural but chemical. Percocet, Roxys, Methadone.
    Please, school me.
