Not at all, it was your sensationalized "interpretation"(based on what you wanted to believe.) Trump's words always gave the inference that it wasn't pernament, but in exactly his own words "Until we've got a firm grasp of the situation". For the last nine months, Trump has battled this kind of dishonesty from the Left.

Dishonesty is not an honorable trait.

I’ve always thought Trump’s biggest issue with is “no Muslim immigration” proposal is that he clearly time-limited it with “until our leaders understand what’s going on”. If his intention is to implement the policy were he to become President, wouldn’t that imply that he doesn’t understand what’s going on?

Trumps statements were actually in response to the idea of resettling tens and hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees in the US, and in light of the Muslim terrorist attacks in Brussels and France, along with the recent Muslim terrorist murders here in California and the crappy background check that allowed it to happen.

Act now or cry later. It's all a matter of choice and smarts.

Is it listed in his mandate for President? Can you quote me where he says he would do it if president?

I see, so 'I will build a wall' and 'I will ban all Muslims' were not actually statements of intent but were simply meaningless and flippant asides designed to be interpreted in any way one sees fit? Ok, evidently I misunderstood. How stupid do I feel now for not taking Trump at his word...?

No, it implies that the current lot who runs the USA has not got the clue about their own duties and responsibilities. UK included. Their foreign policies are disastrous, their domestic policies are even worse. Everyone wants to see controlled immigration. Proper checks like it used to be done in the past. Security and medical checks. Not to forget language requirements.

You haven't addressed the questions :

Here, directly from his web page :
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on.

So here are the questions again:
Where did he mention immigrants in his "suggestion"? Are you now stating that not only was it just a suggestion but is now not going to apply to tourists?

Perhaps you could also explain how this "temporary" could actually be carried out in practice?

No. You simply do not understand rhetoric. Your post enlightenment mind "reads" oral statements like legally binding contracts. It's only in the last century or so, that some humans have attempted to reduce oral communication to this strait jacket of understanding. Never in the previous several hundred thousand years has anyone attempted to understand oral, off the cuff, communication in this manner.

Remember, communication is about understanding. If I understood him more accurately than you did, I won the communication contest between us. And frankly its not like I'm Einstein or something. When I heard his statement on the Muslims which nearly put much of the Left in the loony ward, I was unruffled, because I immediately said to myself and in fact even posted similarly, that what he was speaking of was merely a pause in entry to ensure that proper screening was being completed.

Further, Hillary is a bald-faced known confirmed liar and likely an unindicted felon, so post enlightenment scrutiny of oral statements as signed printed legal documents seems a bit self-serving, don't you think?

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump called Monday for a “total and complete” ban on Muslims entering the United States, barring followers of the world’s fastest-growing religion because he considers the faith rooted in hatred and violence.

That's what liberals and the media get for thinking that Trump means what he says. Joke's on them. I've been assured by several Trump supporters on this very forum that you can't ever really believe what Trump says.

Blimey Snake, where did you buy that from? I want one too. Was it on a special offer? If it was on, say a 2 for 1 I could get one for myself and have one to give as a gift for Christmas.

Yes, calling [the current administration] for a "total and complete ban" is NOT the same as listing it in his mandate. He never said this is something he would do, in an official statement I can find. But I want to find it; can you link it for me?

His statement is even on his website, and doesn't mention it's something he wants to do as POTUS.
