Now, take a minute and IMAGINE what the Right would say if President Obama said that?

We ALL know what they'd say "Obama wants to bow and scrape and sell North Korea more nukes".

But, since it's Trump?....they'll say "Trump will cut a tough deal with the NKs....probably force them to give up their nukes. He's a great deal-maker!".......

which will be just as dishonest or silly as their response if President Obama said he'd talk to Kim.

Not much different than Obama and other former presidents talking to/with dictators.

We both know the Right, especially the Trump Right, would say something COMPLETELY different if you substituted the name "Obama" for the name "Trump" in that article as it concerns meeting with Kim.

Quite frankly I dont know what Trump right would say if Obama wants to have talk with JungEun Kim.

I like Obama in the fact that he is a lot more intelligent than many Americans.

I dont like Obama in the fact that he was not bold (or too cautious) enough to call JungEun of North Korea when JungEun offered Obama to pickup the phone and call him.

On the other hand, I like Trump in the fact that he looks like a guy who can pick up the phone and call JungEun of North Korea as soon as he feels he has time for it.

I also like Trump in the fact that he is a good deal maker. I dont see any way that Americans can understand North Korea soon, so just a good deal of give and take will make everybody happy.

To me a good deal is as follows.

    1. Peace treaty of North Korea and US, and complete withdraw of US military in South Korea.
US is spending too much money on South Korea. South Korea is spending too much money on its
defence. This would help both South Korea and US.

    2. Some kind of assurance that will convince US that North Korea will not invade South Korea.
This is a hard one. I dont have exact idea on this yet, but it probably require China and Russia
involvement to give full assurance that North Korea will not dare to invade South Korea.

Peace treaty between US and North Korea can not happen without this goal is fullfilled.

    3. North Korea will not give up its nuke no matter what unless US give up its nukes.
But peace treaty will solve this problem. North Korea will be just like other nuclear states.
Its still a threat alright, but since we get along, it shouldnt be problem.
Quite frankly I think Americans should worry more about Japan having nukes rather than North Korea.
Americans should learn to differenciate Japanese and Koreans

Koreans almost never invaded any other country, but Japanese has been a very hostile nation.

BTW Korean war is not invasion on other country.
Korean war is just like American civil war except for Korean war, foreign military power helped one side.

North Korean envoy rejects Trump overture to meet leader

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposal to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is a "kind of propaganda or advertisement" in his election race, a senior North Korean official said on Monday.

Trump, in a wide-ranging interview with Reuters in New York last week, said he is willing to talk to the North Korean leader to try to stop Pyongyang's nuclear program, proposing a major shift in U.S. policy toward the isolated nation.

"It is up to the decision of my Supreme Leader whether he decides to meet or not, but I think his (Trump's) idea or talk is nonsense," So Se Pyong, North Korea's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, told Reuters on return from Pyongyang after attending the first ruling party congress in 36 years.

"It's for utilization of the presidential election, that's all. A kind of a propaganda or advertisement," he said. "This is useless, just a gesture for the presidential election."

"There is no meaning, no sincerity," So added.

As a candidate, U.S. President Barack Obama made unfulfilled campaign promises to meet the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), he said.

North Korea conducted a fourth nuclear test in January and launched a long-range rocket in February, triggering tougher international sanctions and the adoption of a more hardline position by South Korean President Park Geun-hye.

So, who is also North Korea's ambassador to the U.N.-backed Conference on Disarmament, reiterated that his country was prepared to return to stalled six-party talks on its nuclear program. China and Russia backed the idea, but the United States and its allies South Korea and Japan reject it, he said.

"As a responsible nuclear state ... we will never use them first," So said. "If the United States use their nuclear weapons first, then we have to use also that one."

"If the United States gives up their hostile policies and changes their attitude, then we also (can) have relations as a normal country," So said. "To South Korea, we proposed high-level military talks but South Korea refused now."

South Korea dismissed on Monday a North Korean proposal for military talks as "a bogus peace offensive" and said it was formally rejecting the overture because it lacked a plan to end the North's nuclear program.

So said that North Korea would not share nuclear technology with other countries. "As a responsible nuclear state, we keep and observe the obligations of non-proliferation of nuclear technology".

Probably because Obama would bow down to him and apologize for the US getting involved with the Korean war and Trump would do no such thing.

I am in favor of talking to our enemies and trying to ease tensions. For example, when Nixon visited China and talked to their leaders or when Kennedy talked to Kruchev, those were noble gestures in my book. I do not see any problem with US leaders talking to the leaders of Russia, North Korea or Iran, or having their leaders visit America.

Trump is a joke and always has been in his run for president - his 'suggestion' of talking to the NK's is jut that - a suggestion. Any idea that he could accomplish anything would be if NK's saw any advantage - then they'd take it, use it and tell him to kiss their butts, just as they did with prior presidents. If he ever wanted to to something, he'd go over there and convince them to start feeding their people, and set aside their guns. 'course, he couldn't do that because the NO's would to take over the government and hand every one of their leaders. And they know it.

I didn't have a problem with Obama having dialogue with Iran, even though his nuke deal seems to be a flop.
I applauded Obama restoring diplomatic relations with Cuba. The embargo was stupid, and needed to go.
If Trump wants to talk to the North Korean regime, then so be it. I don't think it would do much good, but it would be worth a try.

Say what you like about Trump, but I get the distinct impression that he wouldn't be easily fooled, no-how, no way!
