Florida nightclub shooting: 50 killed and 53 injured in 'act of terror' – rolling updates

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/l...-nightclub-shooting-terrorism-suspect-updates

I live in the Tampa Bay area about an hour outside of Orlando and just heard the police chief on TV confirm that upwards of 50 people have been killed versus the original reports of 20 making this the worst mass shooting in US history. Apparently the suspect has been named as Omar Mateen a US citizen whose family is from Afghanistan although contradicting (all unconfirmed) is that the suspect is himself from Afghanistan, and early reports are indicating he may have radical Islamic sympathies though nothing has been confirmed as to the motive at this time and nothing will be confirmed by the authorities until the suspects next of kin have been notified. According to the FBI it is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

I have many friends attending University of Central Florida in Orlando and just hope none of them were in attendance.

I live in Orlando. Good thing that I decided to stay home and learn a bit of Russia.

I think that we know who was responsible

Ya he had to have been trained by someone or wasn't acting alone this is a high kill count for one person, they say he was only armed with a handgun and an AR-15 even with extended clips I don't understand how he wasn't overpowered when he had to reload, unless he had a drum magazine for the AR.

Yet we are still trying to start a war with Russia instead of working with them to exterminate all of these terrorists. We even work with some of them. Its a f@cking disgrace.

I don't know enough about these guns to have an opinion.. but it sure is horrible. Why would an Afghani carry out an ISIS threat? His parents were so lucky to get out of Afghanistan in the 1980s.

The US isn't trying to start a war with Russia.. That is some lame propaganda.

I just heard that this was apparently a gay nightclub so that adds another dimension to this, I'm fairly sure that ISIS isn't to fond of the gays.

I don't want to get this thread off topic but Russia's best buddy Assad brokers ISIS oil.

Thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected.

I haven't seen anything confirming this, but I'm assuming the nightclub was a gun free zone?

Ya I was talking about Assad. Turkish black merchants do it but it's official state policy in Baath controlled Syria.

I see the fruits of diversity have blossomed.

Supporting Muslims here is a no brainer.

Well, more like having no brain.

Easy in a night club where people are packed shoulder to shoulder. Especially with the deafening music.

In fact some people though that it was part of the music until they saw the muzzle flash.

Ya this is crazy hopefully clubs don't become the new soft target, they're always packed in downtown Orlando and Y'bor on the weekends with only one main entrance/exit and the loud music and lights make them hard to navigate to start with not to mention all the college kids liquored up and on molly.

We should put a restriction of only letting people in that has the skills to contribute to our society. I doubt that many ISIS members are that skilled of workers.

    its a soft target.

low expectation of attack, too many to prepare them all.

malls, nightclubs, museums, theaters, anywhere with lots of people and low political/religious significance.

the Islamist terrorists have wised up and adapted.

The bottom line is that people were shot to death by a person with a gun in a gun free zone.

    http://www.ammoland.com/2016/06/flo...hooting-was-in-a-gun-free-zone/#axzz4BNWcgDqS

I don't want to politicize it, but I do want the facts to be out there that the only person with a gun was the shooter.

    its a private nightclub.

owner has the right to set his own rules.

its called property rights. its just as important as gun rights.

Putting Agis on their borders and Amassing troops there isn't trying to start a war? Well, maybe Russia should put a similar system in Cuba, or any other place that is on or near our border. I'm sure we will not react negatively to it.

If we actually actively worked with Russia instead of shielding terrorists, then I'm sure by now, those terrorist groups would be either completely irradiated or shivering in some hole from fright, pissing their pants, like the cowardly rats they are.
