No.. He didn't have a high approval rating.. All those countries have gold dinars or sovereigns and have for decades. They don't use them for business because that would be slow and cumbersome and the interest would eat you alive... Remember Libya imported 90% of its food.

Ghaddafi was always a turkey.. He wrecked Libya's oil sector in 1970 on advice from Abdullah Tariki who hated the West... He trashed Libya's constitution which I'll bet you haven't read and replaced it with his maniacal Green Book, which you also haven't read.

Statistics tells otherwise. Don't care about propaganda and narrative.

You use "i know a guy who knows a guy" narrative, which is anecdotical at best (i'd bet my gaming rig that it is utter bs).

People in desert really hate access to clean water, wealth, liberties, national pride, welfare and other stuff, I guess.

As you have already assumed I am lying and obviously did not understand my commentary...I believe this discussion is no longer productive.

    Have a Nice Day:smile:

I lived across the street from the US Embassy in Tripoli when Ghaddafi overthrew Idris and my father's job was to report on Ghaddafi.

Clean water, national pride , prosperity and freedom were illusions.

Ghaddafi was a treacherous megalomaniac .. an unstable gadfly.. You can't reinvent Ghaddafi because you hate Obama or US foreign policy.

He sponsored every terrorist, rebel group in Africa.. When he felt threatened he would play nice for a little while.. He was NEVER a statesman.. He was cruel, deceitful and unpredictable.

    Ghaddafi was a mad dictator.

I understood your commentary and I'm getting a signal that you surrender. Narrative and single persons claims do not matter, unless supported by objective facts, like statistics. The fact that I live in Eastern Europe do not add more credibility to, for example, claim, that natives of Baltic countries are preparing to be "judenfrei" again. Good day to you, sir.

Ghaddafi nationalized Libyan oil prematurely and nearly killed the Libyan oil business.. He got rid of Tobruk and Wheelus which were very positive influences on Libyans.. The Jewish community which had been successful and prosperous and involved in the arts fled.

Internet credentials are worthless. Everyone has a PhD in everything and all experiences necessary to make their argument valid. I.E. It doesn't matter where you've lived. That's pointless and anecdote.

Wrong about the gold dinar. Most countries do not use that over there. The US has a DOCUMENTED DISLIKE of his proposed system. it's blatantly obvious why we intervened.

What really pisses me off is this perceived "morality" that what we did over there - BOMBING A COUNTRY AND ITS INFRASTRUCTURE. was somehow a humanitarian thing to do. We did nothing but harm those people.

Do your homework on the dinar/sovereign.. I have boxes of gold sovereigns that date back to the 1940s.

Ghaddafi had a massive inferiority complex and that made him very dangerous.

Oh my, he did not gave up oil reserves to French or US and after his death everyone is happy and Libyan oil business is flourishing... Not.
Basically, occupation forces surely were positive for Libyans... Not
Jewish community of 100 members at point when Muammar Gaddafi came to power? Not even funny. The fact that he didn't like Jews or Israel is not a valid reason for invasion.

TOTAL, ENI, Occidental, Synopec and 4 others were operating in Libya with a combined production of about 1.2 million bpd. before Libya fell apart in Feb 2011.

They still aren't up to speed because Libya is still in turmoil.

You don't "give up" oil reserves... What the hell are you talking about?

Libyan oil production is down from 1.3 million bpd to 250,00 bpd on a good day.
