Because nobody loves freedom. Even those who say they love freedom. I'm sick and tired of all the crap. And people haven't a clue what freedom is. Some are dumb enough to proclaim going to college a form of freedom. And I'm not even getting to the part where freedom = personal responsibility...

I'm OK with USSR. You are not. Oh no you think you will but you will be not. You see people like me are shrewd & sophisticated beyond your wildest imagination. We are your divorce lawyers, your used car salesmen and real estate agents. If America became a member republic of the USSR, we will be the ones signing papers to approve your monthly quota of milk powders and chicken eggs. We will be the one rocking your cradle and digging your grave. You can't even imagine how great we are... at getting our way with people and tackling different issues.

Oh you don't believe me? Look up Stalin. Look 'im up. Tell me this little Georgian guy is a real follower of Marxism. You can't. But hey, he got what he wanted and drove an ice-pick through the skull of a true believer. Weird isn't it?

Those who would trade in liberty for security deserves neither. Don't look around, I'm talking about you.

American Communism would not be like USSR's Communism or Maoist Communism it would likely have government control of big industries while some kind of open market model for consumer and other goods and services and unlike friendly to the others. So my guess it would more egalitarian but not a classical Marxist model.

You see? You still don't get it.

    Let's put it this way.

Our founding fathers were geniuses of geniuses. They thought they had designed a system — not perfect, but something quite close. They patched up as many holes as they coudl think of.

And see the the kind of absolutely disgraceful mess we are in today.

Think of a frying pan as the reality and think of your vision as a chicken egg... and you get the idea.

In other words, what you had described wouldn't work at all and will turn into everything you hate plus people like me will be running the show, because we are shrewd, we are realistic, and we understand human nature. We know where, what, why and how to pull the right string to make things work and people tick.

BTW what you described is very close to what China is having now. All the key industries are being run by the government because alas, how could we let private hands lay on all those crucial industries! Yet China is incredibly corrupt and guess who are running the show — hint, it's not those idealists.

I find this confusing. Are you implying that the power brokers in society are the divorce lawyers, car salesmen, and real estate agents ? Are you implying that people in those professions are "shrewd and sophisticated beyond our wildest imaginations" ?

I do not have yo look up Stalin you see It was under the rule of the fecal matter eating bacteria aka Stalin that the bacteria aka Russians sent my grandfathers to Siberia.

You need to look up Stalin not mist of us. Stalin was a Communist in name only. THE USSR was not a real Communist " country" it was a Russian chauvinist extreme Russian nationalist autocratic dictatorship run by the wannabe Russian that little filthy Georgian worm Stalin. The USSR was the same dispicable filthy empire dictatorship that was the Czarist Russian empire. The difference was that the USSR had Comiue-Czars not just plain autocratic czars.

Hm. First thing I thought when I saw this title was that the West, America especially, could have learned some humility, and that probably would have helped fashion a saner, safer world.

Communism had its day in the sun when it was considered a serious rival to democratic capitalism. But communism was an utter failure. No one takes it seriously anymore.

Oh c'mon that's a metaphor. I was trying to say, there are a bunch of smart people who believe that the moral boundaries are not absolute and have no problem crossing the line — me included — will always find a way to exploit "the system", no matter what system it is. Capitalism, Soviet Russia, welfare state... it doesn't matter. These people in America can most likely be found among divorce lawyers, used car salesmen, etc.

I'm not exploiting the system now because I still believe America isn't entirely hopeless and I haven't yet given up, besides, I would likely have to face grave legal consequences if I dare to wander into the DMZ of legal boundaries.

Put it more specifically: You want your kids, BAD. Your lawyer says :"Hey I feel your pain bro (he doesn't, at all), if you want to win the custody battle, you got do these things A, B, C and D" and I guarantee you you will win, and it's gonna cost ya... just about as much as a brand new Porsche." While if fact, all the things could be done for 1/2 of the cost or less, and half the things done, although legal, are more or less below the belt.

The power brokers and power players can be just about anyone, but you would clearly have more luck in finding them among lawyers, politicians, lobbyists etc.

That's my point! That's totally what I was talking about!?!?

You see there are people who always find a way to cheat the system and get everything for themselves, the best way, and perhaps the only way to defeat them is a free-market full of competition where nobody is entitled to anything!

Oh you raised the price on epipen to 500%? Well f-- you. I just started a company that manufacture the same thing for only 35 bucks, and my factories are all in China, because labor their is cheaper.

Can you do that? No you can't. Because even if you came up with exact the same formula, all by yourself, you are still prohibited by US federal law to produce them.

As long as you have a government, any kind of government, there will be Stalins trying to infiltrate it and get better deals for themselves by screwing everybody else while doing so. The only solution? A smaller government.

Power = corruption. Bigger power = bigger corruption.

    Upset, not angry.

Like you walked miles in a desert... and still coudln't get out of it. Upset you are, angry you are not.

Also, I'm starting to lose patient with you... you are really condescending a man. You lecture others as soon as you get the chance, and you do so looking down as if you are the spokesperson for truth and justice, and you have no problem toe the partisan line. You try to act as if you are fair, unbiased and a moderate and dismiss any accusation of you being an ideologue, but your violent reaction to dissent exposes your true color as yet another typical liberal.

Nope. Thanks to the whole Epipen crap, I think I finally have to face the truth that America isn't any holier than other countries when it comes to embracing freedom. American people are just as ignorant as people of Sweden, when it comes to the grand issue of liberty.

    No exceptionalism there.

Before making my point, yes, I am a smarty pants.

And my point: there really isn't a valid concept called "democratic capitalism". You either have democracy, or pure capitalism. In pure capitalism, everyone vote with money, earned based on merit. People under democracy vote with a symbolic piece of paper, not earned, but granted as a privilege.

What we have now and here is called crony capitalism. A cocktail of a lot of things. Socialism, communism, democracy... you name it.
