I understand government's limitations. Government for example, cannot decide the people's health care(A little rub in on this administration ;) ). Only the American People can make that decision. Which is why one of the reform measures I'd like to implement if I'm elected as a US Rep in 2018, is to enable the American People to make their own health care plans, customized in conjunction with their doctors. No more paying for tampons, no more paying for any unnecessary out-of-pocket expenditures.

The best way to keep health care costs low, is to eliminate wasteful spending which the ACA never did. And I will, by giving the American consumer choice. Because it's OUR choices that matter, not Washington's.

Good stuff AN! I wish you luck in 2018.

I'm reminded of a local election back in the 1980s when the people voted down a property tax increase. Shortly afterward, I went to the courthouse to renew my car license plates and found a line of people all the way out to the street. So I waited until it was my turn. The bureau's supervisor decided to pull all the clerks off the license plate windows except for one. When I finally got to the window, I could see several people sitting at their desks twittling their thumbs doing nothing. So it was obvious the supervisor was making his own statement about keeping the tax money instead of wasting more of it on wasteful government.

    Good luck again,
    Steve

This is a tough call. Clinton has demonstrated herself to be reckless and incompetent. Trump has demonstrated himself to be a total buffoon. One of these two characters will be sitting in the oval office. Which do you prefer to live with the next four years, Hillary's shriek or Trump's obscene pouty lips?

I'm endorsing Trump because we need a no nonsense president.. I'm endorsing the man because he's willing to address issues no politician wants to address.

Of course that's why he's winning.

This is actually up at Hillary Clinton's website right now.

He's got a good chance of winning.

But don't fool yourself. Trump will do none of the things he has promised. In fact, Trump will do squat. The truth is that Trump has zero interest in running the government. He will be 'chairman of the board' - that is, he will be the Queen and Mike Pence will be the Prime Minister.

While I agree with what you say and agree that Hillary was part of the problem, the same would have happened with or without Hillary. Voting in Red over Blue will not change foreign policy.

It was arming and supporting (by various nation states - Saud, Turkey, US and others) the Sunni extremist Islamist rebels in Syria that led to the worst humanitarian disaster so far this decade, the modern incarnation of ISIS and the current refugee crisis. From my perspective it is the countries that made the mess that should clean it up.

What folks should be asking is why we were arming and supporting Al Qaeda/Al Nusra and others of the same and worse ideological mindset. Is this not NEWS ?

Trump mis-stated "Obama created ISIS". ISIS was around before Obama but they were a small group and had no power. Trump should have corrected himself by stating that what he meant was "Obama is responsible for the modern incarnation of ISIS - their rise to power as a force to be reckoned with" and then backing this claim by saying he was arming and supporting the extremist Islamists that then went on to form ISIS.

Trump did not do this. Trump would be a lackey of the establishment just like Hillary.

I am hoping for Trump for completely selfish reasons. Trump will be better for the oil industry and that is how I make my living.

Under Trump this country will continue down the exact same path (foreign policy wise) as if Blue were elected.

Well, obviously Trump has to work with Congress..... All Trump needs to do is destroy - not create...... We have too many laws and too much government intervention in absolutely everything.....

Trump knows this...... Get government out of our economy and peoples lives and we will do a lot better..

Besides, even if he did nothing I would be satisfied with that - I mean how much more restrictive can government be?

Well, things have certainly changed. A few months back (at the beginning of the primary season) a number of people on this forum were touting Trump as the real American populist - an antidote to the country club republicanism of Mitt. That shipped has sailed (or actually, sunk). All that's left is the do-nothing austerity crap of neoliberalism. In this regard, Trump is little different than Obama or Clinton.

And if you are wondering how much more restrictive government can be, you are in for one heck of a surprise.

I don't know what Trump actually is as far as party-wise. It's kinda a riddle wrapped in an enigma, but he is addressing issues that need to be addressed - issues no politician would want to touch with a 10 foot pole.

Oh, I realize how far government can go...... I don't even know where to begin with that, but I don't want to see the United States go personality cult totalitarian, I mean IMO as a libertarian I already think our government is authoritarian presently - especially when it comes to economics, but socially the federal government is authoritarian. The federal government is a bully picking winners and losers.... I'll say this much - if we're not vigilant we will have a nanny state in no time aka socialism.

Under Trump there will be more laws, more Gov't, and certainly more Gov't intervention.. whether Trump likes it or not.

Red loves Big Gov't and Big Gov't intervention. Red loves trampling on the constitution, liberty and individual rights and freedom. Red wants a more totalitarian society and increase the powers of the "heavy hand of the State - Police".

Red wants more regulations and tax law that protect the oligopolies, dampen fair and free markets and to reduce citizens into a form of indentured slavery.

    Blue wants the same.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest any of that....... Besides, you certainly know you will get that under Hillary.

If progressives are concerned about too much government then I laugh because they're the ones that want a nanny state.

Trump doesn't need to legislate anything - he needs to destroy existing legislation..... We have too much government..

i still believe that not because trump is nice but because of his ego. He truly believes he belongs on mt rushmore and the only way to do that is to make the country greata again by the populist approach. Anything less and he ends up like bush or obama and his ego cant take that.

Have you been living in a cave ? "Absolutely" no evidence that Red loves Big Gov't. "Absolutely" No evidence that Red loves trampling on the Constitution individual liberty - rights and freedoms ?

    1) Big Gov't. Since Reagan, every time a Red President has been sitting in office the massive bureaucracy has gotten even more massive.

One of the easiest ways to measure increase or decrease in "Gov't" is by looking at the increase or decrease in the amount of money spend over and above revenue (money coming in). aka (The Deficit). Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. spent money like princesses with credit cards.

These clowns made the big loving Dem's look like spendthrifts by comparison.

    2) Trampling on the Constitution - individual rights and freedoms.

Bush made it our patriotic duty to give up essential liberties. Have you never heard of the Patriot Act ?

Obama then came along and changed the name to the equally Orwellian doublespeak "Freedom Act" The act which takes away individual rights and freedoms is now called the Freedom Act.

I realize that through 12 years of school we do not manage to teach kids the basic principles on which this nation was founded so let's have a quick review.

The principles on which the constitution is based can be found in the Declaration. This document sets out the boundaries and basis for Gov't authority - (legitimacy of authority).

Individual rights and freedoms (life liberty and pursuit of happiness) are put "ABOVE" the legitimate authority of Gov't.

The legitimate authority of Gov't (be it Federal, State or City Council) does not extend to making any laws outside it's legitimate authority with respect to individual liberty. Period ! ... never mind laws based on personal or religious belief which would interfere with personal liberty.

"Limited Gov't" = there are boundaries and restriction on the power of Gov't. The founders set up a system which put limitations on the power and authority of Gov't.

For over 200 years Gov't has been trying to get that power back .. and the have succeeded.

We have fallen so far down the slippery slope we can not even see the top of the mountain any more. SCOTUS should all be removed for dereliction of duty. These clowns are part of an establishment that we no long have control over.

You do realize I'm a libertarian and that I hate anyone that wants to grow government?

If you want to bash these RINO's then we can do that.....

    I mean I agree with you - these RINO's indeed want more government - I don't..

Do you think I'm defending republicans? Sorry just because I'm opposed to progressives doesn't make me a republican.

I do not even know what the word "progressive" means in any real sense. It is such labels that keep people ignorant (IMO).

Look at the term "liberal" for example.

Classical liberalism: A political ideology that advocates limited government, constitutionalism, rule of law, due process, free markets, and individual liberties including freedom of religion, speech, press, and assembly. https://www.google.ca/#q=classical+liberalism+principles

What is not to like ! How is it that "liberalism" has become such a dirty word ? It is like white is black and black is white.

Democrats/Liberals are not "Liberal" and Conservatives/Republicans are not "Republican"

Folks need to stop using these meaningless labels and start talking about what they mean .. core values and principles.

Lately I have heard forks starting to demonize people on the basis of "Secularism". This is loony tunes. It is the Islamist extremists that hate secularism (Gov't by the people instead of "divine right/theocracy")

If one is a Libertarian (the party that actually has some respect and understanding of most of the principles of classical liberalism) then one should not favor Blue over Red or Red over Blue. Both are deplorable.

It is sad, and it's not necessarily a guarantee that I make the vote(because it is repulsive either way). This is just me saying NeverHillary. The terror attacks that happened, and the weak response. Yeah, I don't want four more years of that. A lot depends on these next couple of months and whether Trump can make his brand politically safe to vote for or voice support for, without major consequences. I'm looking out for my own head too.

I certainly am not going to do that...and I actually feel pity for people who conceive of the situation that way.

Hillary Clinton is an intelligent, capable, qualified candidate.

I intend to vote for her because I think she will be a fine president for our country.

Anyone who thinks this thing has to come down to "the candidate we hate the least" ought not to vote.

One thing that always stuck out to me was back in the 2008 campaign, and Hillary was asked about a rhetorical Iranian attack on Israel(Hasn't happened of course) and she then says that the US can "completely obliterate them"(I'd link the video, but I just basically told you what she said.)

Hillary is not the peace candidate. There IS no peace candidate. There's only "slight chance of competence" VS Hillary's incompetence.

    - - - Updated - - -

You are one of very few souls who do(Literally, only 5% of Americans think Hillary would make a great president.). Again, you find your views on the outlier of even most conservatives and Liberals. :D.

Well, why do you think I say progressive instead of "liberal"? because progressives are not liberal by definition - classical liberals are and classical liberals are libertarians.

Indeed our present society does not know how to use these terms appropriately, but you know what? it's progressives that keep on moving the goalposts with these words - they're redefining them.

If it matters - "progressives" are fascists. What are they progressing to? well fascism is the end result and they're already there.

I'm certainly not defending Clinton in any way. BUT, there is no peace when the enemy has already declared war. The choice now is only how to defend ourselves from the enemy that has declared war on us.
