UhUh. Love god and love your neighbour. The rest are not needed if you follow those 2.

8 of the 10 commandments come from earlier religions and codes and were picked up by the Jewish scribes around 700BCE when they started writing the Hebrew scriptures.

And how do you yourself know this? Did you acquire this knowledge from an ancient book written by man? So for your own belief, you simply pick and choose which books to adhere to?

The Ten Commandments came from God, given to Moses. Your non-belief in that, will never change mine!!!

By definition something which is ALLMIGHTY would want nothing because nothing could be denied to it. Little contradiction which christians run away from.

No atheists do not try to destroy anything the bible and all other faiths destroy themselves. Sure some atheists mock but therefore is nothing wrong with that is they are mocked just as often.

There is no side or heaven or hell but feel free to provide some evidence to the contrary.

    Evidence not a biblical quote

You need not believe what a book says to understand when it was written and we can easily show how the fictional tale of moses was borrowed from other sources long before the events in exodus would have taken place. Get that straight it is NOT belief in a different book but merely a clear chain showing where the fictional idea came from.

Much like the story of the Roswell alien landings which was borrowed from a science fiction novel published in the 1950s.

One need not believe either to see that the later story borrowed or was copied from an earlier story.

Or like star wars which clearly borrows from Arthur and Robin Hood etc. One need believe the movie or the older stories to see how the former borrowed or was partly inspired by the latter.

    Massive fail for you again

No. I learnt that from studying ancient codes cut into stones long before the supposed 'Moses' ever existed. The Torah (supposedly written by Moses) was written by several people, using different styles of writing. These were scribes writing around 700BCE. There is no evidence that Moses ever existed. And if you studied the story fully, and related it to the times you would see how ridiculous it is to believe 2,500,000 + men women, children and herds could possibly exist 40 years in a desert wilderness. How 2,500,000 + (nearly half the population of Egypt) could leave without anyone noticing or mentioning it. How the land of Palestine could not possibly support this number of people.

You believe what you are told without even considering, or studying, the background to the Bible. If I told you that the Bible story of Abraham could not have happened as written, you would not believe me as you have not studied either the story, or the time, when he was supposed to have lived.

    Matthew 22:36-40King James Version (KJV)

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Matthew, of course, is not only recalling Jesus' instructions to his first disciples; he is also speaking to his own community of disciples a few generations later. There is still need to send out laborers into the harvest, to send missionaries out beyond the community into a perilous world. And those sent will still need to depend on the hospitality of others. Jesus says of those who enact such hospitality, "Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me" (10:40).

In the ancient world identity was tied to family and community. It was understood that in showing hospitality, one welcomed not just an individual, but implicitly, the community who sent the person and all that they represent. Therefore, welcoming a disciple of Jesus would mean receiving the very presence of Jesus himself and of the one who sent him, God the Father.

Jesus continues: "Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous" (10:41). The words "prophet" and "righteous" in Matthew often refer to the prophets and faithful servants of biblical history (e.g., 11:13; 13:17; 23:29), but can also refer to contemporary prophets (7:15-20) and righteous ones (13:43, 39; 25:37, 46). It is not clear whether Matthew is referring to two distinct roles within the community, or whether these are simply alternative ways of describing those sent out as missionaries.

What are the "prophet's reward" and the "reward of the righteous" of which Jesus speaks? Elsewhere in Matthew the prophets receive persecution (5:12), rejection (13:57), and death (23:30-35, 37), and yet those who are persecuted are told, "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven" (5:12). Similarly, the righteous are promised that they "will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father" (13:43).

Finally, Jesus says, "and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple -- truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward" (10:42). "Little ones" (mikros) often refers to children, but Matthew uses it to refer to Jesus' disciples, especially those who are young in faith or particularly vulnerable (cf. 18:6, 10). The statement about giving a cup of cold water to one of these little ones points ahead to the parable of the judgment in Matthew 25. Here the Son of Man says to the righteous, "I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink" (25:35), and "truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me" (25:40). The word translated "least of these" is elachistos, superlative of mikros. The righteous who attend to the needs of the "littlest ones" are told: "Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world" (25:34).

The word "reward" (misthos) in Matthew 10 carries connotations of something earned, but this word is not used in the parable of judgment. Here Jesus says to the righteous, "Come, inherit the kingdom prepared for you..." An inheritance is pure gift. Those who welcome and care for the needs of "little ones" welcome and care for Jesus himself. To receive Jesus is to receive the one who sent him, and to become heirs to all that the Father has to give.

Nothing by man is trustworthy, your sources are faulty. "Let God be true and every man a liar."

If shortly after Jesus death and resurrection, everything was rounded up as to hide the truth, so existing powers could remain, man would of absolutely done this. A very good example of this would be the Vatican secret archives which hold an estimated 53 miles of shelving that you and I cannot read. Of what importance do you think are within these archives and books? And could historical Biblical truths be held from within the archives? After all, the pope declares to be Jesus Christ hidden under a veil of flesh, he also declares power over all the souls of the world, he also declares to have the power to forgive sins, to interpret, and change the word of God. The pope is also responsible for changing times and laws. Times being the calendar and biblical days, laws being the commandments.

So where do you think the pope or Vatican truly stand when it comes to Jesus, and our Father in heaven? And with such power, it is much easier to describe what cannot be done,..................... than what could be done.

The Jesus character got those from the sprouts in the book of Leviticus. And loving your neighbor didn't make the Top Ten.

A List of the Original Ten Commandments of the Bible
written out by Moses, King James Version - KJV

1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
    5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
    13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
    15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

    Most common Protestant listing:

Thou shalt have no other gods before me
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy
Honour thy father and thy mother
    Thou shalt not kill
    Thou shalt not commit adultery
    Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour
    Thou shalt not covet

    Latin Catholic listing (Vatican):

Thou shalt not have other gods besides Me
Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain
Remember to keep holy the Lord’s day
Honor thy father and thy mother
    Thou shalt not murder
    Thou shalt not commit adultery
    Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods

Thou neighbors wife and thy neighbors good is of the same, thou shall not covet. This is the Vatican's ten commandments, making one commandment into two, and leaving out, "thou shall not make any graven images."

My sources are not faulty. They are from archaeological digs of places and cities that existed long before the Bible was written. Before Abraham was supposed to exist. Your very words show you have no idea what you are talking about. Even Christian Scholars accept these artifacts to be authentic. Even the Catholic Church.

I think you may find it's the Magisterium (consisting of Pope and some Bishops) who decide on teachings etc. And who cares what the Vatican has in secret. History tells us that a lot of the Bible is simply stories. And this history existed long before any Vatican files. It was not hidden from anyone. In fact, broadcasting it often led to the fame of the Archaeologist. My guess that in the Vatican files are facts to do with the Catholic Church and some of it's misbehaviour.

You are so tied up with your indoctrination you can't see beyond that horizon.

Tell me how supposed 'Abraham' - accepted chronological date 2010/2000BCE - bought Sarah's, and his tomb, from the Hittites when they weren't around for another 400 years. Or how he came from 'Ur of the Chaldees' when the Chaldeans weren't around for another 1000 years.

Those are the fake Ten Commandments. The real Ten Commandments are found in Exodus chapter 34. They are highly ethnocentric, which is why con men try to pass the fakes off as real. The First Commandment tells the Israelites to invade other people's land, steal it, and to destroy their religious artifacts.

You should read the fairy tale before commenting on it. But here's the condensed version =https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkCJ8rb8Grw

You can easily verify this yourself by simply reading the fairy tale and making notes in your own words about what you are reading. The good thing about the Ten Commandments fairy tale is that it is in sequence and clearly written so that even idiots can understand it. The real Ten Commandments are found in Exodus chapter 34 and verse 28 plainly says that the preceding verses constitute the Ten Commandments. Now go break your newborn donkey's neck because you didn't redeem it with a lamb.

Here you go again. If you're not going to read my posts then stop trying to respond.

Here is where you're getting muddled. You said. Matthew's quotes from the OT about referring to
Jesus being born in Bethlehem have nothing to do with Jesus - but David.

I asked you where is David's birth mention in Matthew. As usual you avoided the question. You
failed to answer. I'm confident that you will refuse to answer.
    Which is sufficient.
Everything is as the Bible says. You're interpretation (opinion or intentional misguiding desire)
    is wrong.
Once again you're opinion is wrong and the Bible is correct. This about the accuracy of the Bible.
Not what you want it to say or your beliefs.
Why don't you study these facts and their background? Seriously.

So you still haven't read your favorite ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairy from Exodus chapter 20 through Exodus chapter 34 and made notes about what you have read.

I've noticed non believers to be the most selective in what they notice or don't notice.

There is no need to interpret the Bible.

My experience is just the opposite. It is the Christian theists who cherry pick, use logical fallacies, demonstrate selection and confirmation biases and appeal to PRATT apologetics, all to rationalize their wishful thinking and ingrained religious indoctrination.

    Speak for yourself, not others.

I read your post. That's why I replied.

I think you're the one muddled. Of course David is not mentioned in the birth story.

Matthem uses the Bethlehem Ephrata quote from the OT and makes it refer to Jesus. The OT quote has nothing to do with Jesus. It is about David. Matthew wrongly uses it to try and prove Jesus fulfils prophecy. He does the same with the 'out of Egypt' quote from the OT. This quote in the OT clearly refers to Israel exiting Egypt. Israel is often called 'my son' and 'my servant Israel' in the OT.

The stories in Matthew and of Luke make no sense whatever.

This is not my interpretation. It is the facts of the time. The trip to Bethlehem was not only unnecessary, it was actually against the Laws of the time. And Luke has several hundred thousand Jews descending upon the small town of Bethlehem all at once.

I repeat. These are facts that are available if you care to look for them.

    .

Luke tells us that baby Jesus returned to Nazareth after Jewish ritual was completed. There he grew up and attended the Temple in Jerusalem with him parents - as required by Jewish Law, No putting mention of Egypt. Why? Because it did not happen, except in Matthews mind. As I pointed out a few miles west of Nazareth and he would have been in Syria, safe under another Governor. Why walk 300 miles to Egypt through the country supposedly being scoured for babies. . Simply to fulfil Matthews prophecy? The whole story makes no sense.
I can show you many errors, exaggerations and myths in the Bible. Matthew also uses a mythical 'massacre of the innocents' by Herod. He claims this is the filfilment of a prophecy in Jeremiah 31:15. The verse he uses has nothing to do with it. It comes from Rachel weeping for her children taken into Egypt and lost (not dead) to her.
Mark makes several errors which have no answer. And his geographical errors of Palestine can perhaps be put down to the fact his parents came from North Africa when he was young.
The Ark of the Covenant is supposed to have been in Keriath Jearim for 20 years. Even Bible students agree this time is way out when you study the story of Saul and David.
I could spend half the evening showing you impossibilities, exaggerations when you know the background of the OT.

Me study? Why do you think I post what I do? Because I have studied.

Anyone who has seriously studied the Bible with an open mind, and its background etc. has no doubt that the inaccuracy of the Bible can be proved 'beyond reasonable doubt'.

Nonsense. Please get an education. Tribes were primarily egalitarian. There were no kings, and the elders, the more experienced would discuss things that affected the tribe. You just cannot tolerate the fact that we lived under a form of socialism for much longer than we have been so called civilized with class structures, hardened into place.

I will not prove my position to you, for you are not capable of accepting facts. Why waste my time with the horribly uneducated? I am not a teacher. So stop embarrassing yourself with your superiors. Although I am embarrassed for you. For some reason you are ignoring the big picture of man's history here on this planet. What you believe came late in human history.

Take me with you when you next travel in your time machine so I can believe you. IF he existed, and IF he taught, what he taught would have at least been passed on orally until it was finally written down. That is the accepted idea about people in antiquity. We see in in all cultures.

Look at the empires and nations of history - Akkadian, Hittites, Babylonians, Assyrians, Medes, Egyptians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Muslims, all of Europe from the 1st Century until the 20th, Russia. Smaller societies were ruled by a king or elder. Even the American Indian tribes had rulers.

From 1200 BC until today, almost every single society of any substance or size was monarchical and paternal (do you know what that means?).

If you have examples from history of societies that were egalitarian (do you know what that means?) and socialist, lets here about them.
