Despite the conciliatory tone struck in President-elect Donald Trump’s victory speech early Wednesday morning, the man who could run his Justice Department left the door wide open to prosecuting Hillary Clinton.

Rudy Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor, New York City mayor and a name on Trump's short list for attorney general, said Wednesday on Fox News' “The O’Reilly Factor” that Clinton was a legitimate target to be investigated and disputed that any prosecution would be political “payback.”

“There’s one tradition in America, right? Election is over. We forget about it. There is another tradition in America which is ‘equal justice under the law,’” Giuliani said. “And it would depend on how bad the violations are.” ...

Trump, then the Republican presidential nominee, first raised the prospect of prosecuting his Democratic opponent during an Oct. 9 debate.

“If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation because there has never been so many lies, so much deception,” Trump told Clinton.

In my view, it’s not political, and it’s not personal. The subject is the Rule of Law. It has been previously noted by multiple reports indicating that some in the FBI are also investigating the Clinton Foundation -- which has been the subject of scrutiny for whether donors got favorable treatment from the Clinton State Department. What must also be done at the start in January is to get rid of the corrupt leadership of the DoJ, FBI, IRS, EPA, DHS, CIA NSA and all the alphabet agencies. There are no statute of limitations for things that Hillary did as Secretary of State and those issues must be fully addressed without political interference of any sorts.

Giuliani would make an excellent AG. How about Sheriff Joe Arpaio for FBI Director?

Glad to hear this. Let's start with Bush, Cheney, Gonzales et al for war crimes.

    Agreed.

Mayor Giuliani is 72 years old. He was the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York during the 1980s, during which time he prosecuted pivotal cases against the American Mafia and against corrupt corporate financiers. He would make an outstanding AG. (Russ, you need to learn to use Wikipedia...).

I thought Russ was saying Sheriff Joe was 80 years old so I looked it up and he's 84! The old coot should have retired 10 years ago.

as much as I would like to see a full and honest investigation with a fair and just application of law, I would be OK with letting Hillary walk away if it helps heal the divide in my country. IRS is a different story.

Wow! That's quite surprising. Sheriff Joe is a very young 84. (And apologies to Russ for my misunderstanding who he was referring to...).

Why would you think that? Just look at your baby Obama and all he has done, yet no impeachment.

He doesn't have to worry about that. It's why you hire an AG lol. The criminal scum Clinton should face a real indictment. For goodness sake, all they would do is pull her clearance. But at least there'd be closure.

Since it is a Desk job anyway, why would it matter how old he is, as long as his mind is still keen ?

Of course they found it easier to use lies and fabrication to demean his efforts while they voted to go with his decisions. The selective memories of the Progressive Left excluded the actions of Bill Clintons eight years and lack of action against the al Qaeda terrorists.
