I really wish I had been on PF when it all went down, but I've been working too much the past few weeks!

I was at work and bouncing between FOX and CNN on my cellphone when the results from Pennsylvania came in. I was both stunned, worried, and excited all at the same time. I ultimately didn't vote for anyone, though I'd been sympathetic to Trump for most of the election cycle, so the news left me both giddy and worried about the state of the country.

The subsequent meltdown and hatred that came from my left-wing friends on Facebook has basically confirmed that this really needed to happen, but I think the dems are going to become even more extreme in the coming years and that the worst is ahead.

I haven't seen any indication that my liberal friends have a clue why they lost, and I don't expect that to change. Similar to how the Republicans wrongly concluded that they lost to Obama because they weren't conservative enough, liberals are now concluding that white racism is responsible for their loss, which reflects a very poor understanding of what happened and doesn't bode well for the future.

    Any thoughts?

I didn't vote for Clinton or Trump but I thought Trump would be the worst possible choice for POTUS. I didn't think he had a chance of winning so I was pretty shocked when he won but not overly upset because I was already prepared for a (*)(*)(*)(*)-show since I don't think Clinton is that much better than him.

After seeing the aftermath, how my liberal friends have reacted, I have to admit to feeling a bit of schadenfreude and am quite entertained by their meltdowns. I've seen one white hipster (who, I kid you not, works at a cupcake store) absolutely berate another white person for lamenting about what the cupcake artist described as "white people problems." I've seen my old high school history teacher lash out at third party voters as if this is all their fault...not a word about the DNC fixing their own primary, not a word about Clinton being a terrible candidate...nope, it was Stein and Johnson voters who need to be demonized for "voting for their principles."

The worst offenders are my younger liberal friends. They have completely lost all sense of composure and are lashing out at everything including each other. My theory for this behavior is that they've had Kid Kool for the past 8 years. Their guy has won every election they've voted in and I don't think it ever occurred to them that they could lose.

So, yeah, I see this election as the result of liberal hubris and its funny because that hubris will not allow liberals to understand how they lost. Trump voters have been pretty obnoxious post-election as well but the liberals are really showing their asses in a magnificent way this go around.

show this to your liberal friends....

this is why we lost.... easy to see, dems did not have the motivation to get out and vote... simple as that, dems gave Trump the win by default

    I completely agree.

I actually became more settled to a Trump presidency when I got home and started seeing the reactions of my liberal friends. They needed this loss to sit down and reflect on what they did wrong.

The relentless support of identity politics and their "crowning' of Clinton were horrible mistakes. They should have dumped Hillary the minute the DNC leaks were out and had Bernie replace her.

Ironically, the Hillary supporters are blaming the Bernie types who stayed home, but they have nothing but themselves to blame for completely abandoning their integrity in the first place.

I have a different recollection of trying to convince you with rational arguments that Trump is a better candidate than corrupt Clinton. When some think it's okay to break our laws because they can get away with it, then breaking our laws will become more prevalent in the future, as we are beginning to see now with riots.

I was so happy not because Trump won, but because of the reaction we see now. I love to see the safe space cowboys squirm like the worms they are.

that was not reality, you could never get Bernie on the ballots in all states in time, there is state rules that must be followed on that one

but the real lesson here is that every vote counts, if you do not vote, it's a vote for the other party, never ever assume your party is gonna win and your vote doesn't count

Right, but why didn't they show up?

    The answer is pretty obvious.

Haha, I'm starting to feel that way!

I was so happy that Hillary Clinton lost that nothing else mattered. Think of the supreme court justices she could have appointed. You have to admit the court is where the real power lies as well as the Federal Reserve.

because they did not like Hillary or thought Trump did not stand a chance or a bit of both...

regardless Trump won because of it and now we have to accept that Trump will be our President for the next 4 years

I have hope that Trump will surprise us all and be a uniter of both parties.... but we will see.... establishment Republicans might turn him into a puppet for their own ends

I argued against showing up because I wasn't sure about Trump's personality.

So far, things are looking pretty good, and I think I made a bad call in not voting for him.

If he reforms immigration policy, and only that, he will be a lifesaver.

    I agree!

I am currently assembling a bunch of screenshots from FB of people who melted down during the election. Once I've blotted out any identifying information, I'm going to start a thread where people can show examples of post-election meltdown, as it happened!

So what does a party do if a candidate dies during the campaign? Is VP exempt from the rule? Surely a party can reverse course if they have to.

My first reaction was "We (the nation ) are screwed."

    Hopefully I'm wrong.

Said the same in 2000 and I wasn't wrong.

Bottom line...if you don't vote you don't win.

    lesson learned?

the VP takes over and then picks a new VP

I think Hillary should of picked Warren as her VP too, that would of helped

heck I think Warren should of been our candidate....

By all indications, Mitch McConnell needs to be shut down. That old turtle is going to cause him more problems than the democrats.

    I was in Travis county.

My vote wouldn't mean anything there, outside of serving as a signal. In that case, not voting accomplishes the same task.

I was shocked. I had predicted a Hillary win many times here on PF. I was resigned to it.

    I was also very happy.

Obviously, the DNC tried to force the worst possible candidate down the throats of their Party, and this was what they got for their trouble. No one showed up.

This was really a peaceful revolution in both parties.

So far, he is exceeding my expectations. I hope he will take on dems and republicans in the days to come.

If he pursues policies that help the poor, will you support him or will you resist because of who he is?

Well, I guess you did the best you could, pragmatically speaking. However, the lesson to be learned, among many others, is that you guys had better not try running a corrupt candidate again. You've also got to ditch the corporate wing of your party.

    I felt the same way.

A major battle was won, but the war is far from over. Trump has got to get immigration, both legal and illegal, under control, or all is lost when the Dems pull it together.

Make no mistake, they are trying to obliterate the white majority, and every step in that direction is a victory for them.

Can't argue with those numbers. You nailed it. One thing I wonder ...

That 10 million vote swing between the 08 election and the 16 election? I wonder how many of those were independents, and how many Dems crossed over.

I watched the election in a nice home theater, at a big gathering of righties. We had the grill going, and it was a great gathering of bright minds and successful people. The evening was charged as we all watched and cheered. We were all making jokes as CNN tried to soften and spin the results that were developing. We were all a bit grim in the beginning, so the evening got sweeter and sweeter as it passed. My big prediction was that scandal follows Clinton wherever she goes, so therefore we would have to see a new scandal develop around the election. My prediction seemed to be cancelled when hillary conceded, but I guess that I need to wait until transfer of power has actually happened before my prediction can be put to rest. That was a fantastic evening that I will never forget.

First, as leftist Michael Moore said earlier this week, the very same White people AND women and Blacks and Hispanics and other minorities as well who twice voted for Barack Obama HAD to in many instanced also have voted for Donald Trump or else Hillary Clinton would be president today and so, no, racism was not much if any factor in this election cycle and nor was misogyny. People wanted change that THEY could believe in rather than change that a Left owned and operated Mainstream Media WANTED to believe in.

As to Trump (and I was a Cruz supporter during the primaries) and although I voted for Trump in the general election I went to bed thinking that Trump would probably win the popular vote and that Hillary would become president via the Electoral College, and I was resigned to that being the reality. But when I awakened to discover that it had reversed and that it was Trump who won the Electoral College while Hillary 'won' the popular vote (simply because socialist New York and California voted for her in mass) I was astounded.

Trump as president of the United States of America? Now that's surrealistic . . . but . . . one can hope that it's surrealistic in a good way. Time will tell.

Maybe you would or maybe you would not but the silly protests and over reaction by those disappointed should be ridiculed.
