    A) people really need to educate themselves on the Confederacy, the flag, and the dynamics of the Civil War, instead of this new modern over-simplified bastardized version of "Confederate flag = racism" and B) if he's off duty and not wearing a uniform and not breaking the law, who cares.

    A person can still support the South and the Confederacy even though they lost the Civil War, just as a person can still be a Democrat even though they lost the election.

    The confederate flag represents State's rights, and a smaller less intrusive federal government. I'd say the confederate flag is appropriate here.

    I was just thinking that , if they fire him he's going to have an army of attorneys beating down his door. He already can sue, he's been done irreparable harm by this. My guess is city attorney's ate already telling his boss to back off and he won't sue. Just a good guy probably grew up there loves his town

    I'm not buying it. I'm thinking that sheriff wanted his name in the papers. His desk is staged with leftist magazines. He's thinking maybe get himself a job offer or two as well. 16k pop town.. Salary can't be huge.

    Free speech should prevail. He wasn't AT the rally /protest so he wasn't inciting. Like it or not the Confederate flag is part of our history.
