It's these "safe haven" cities and what he's doing with Chicago... what's the difference between that and marshal law? It's a slippy slope.

Sanctuaries have got to go. It's not okay to be a criminal.

So you do not have a problem with cities who are breaking the law, or in the case of Chicago, a city that is like the wild west where people are being held hostage there on a daily basis? We must protect Americans....

Do you find the level of violence, the gangs, and the drugs in Chicago an acceptable status quo?

What scares me is that Trump is an "in your face" liar.

What's marshal law? Do you mean martial law?

    - - - Updated - - -

Neither of the above are crimes. They are traffic violations.

Marshal law is when Marshal is in charge.

Republicans: "We want the states to be in control!"
Also republicans: "We want to take over Chicago!"

    - - - Updated - - -

"We're going to give Chicago back to you! ...The people."

Oh I see, avoiding the issue.

When liberals can't do their jobs and keep their citizens safe, someone has to do it for them.

Plus, I'm pretty sure Chicago isn't a state.

I propose a system where trust is a sliding scale, and a little bit of trust is earned over time.

    - - - Updated - - -

So you don't want government control at the state level. You just want it at the federal and city level? Makes perfect sense.

    - - - Updated - - -

And another thing. You guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Not a single one of you has been shot to death in Chicago.

    Two questions for you:
    1) What should be done when government has knowingly allowed criminals to get away with crime for 30 years, and...

    2) What about states' rights? E.G. federal government interceding in issues that the Constitution leaves to the states?

uhh no. LEt them do what they want. We declare we are being harsh on deportations so the illegals head to sanctuary cities.

They leave their jobs which are now open for citizens

More importantly they now compete with citizens in sanctuary cities for jobs and that leads to job losses and lower wages. Higher housing prices too.

If they cant then they probably have to turn to crime or something.

The legal citizens then get pissed at their leadership for stacking their cities with illegals

We will have them voting GOP for decades :)

The Slippery Slope is a fallacy in which a person asserts that some event must inevitably follow from another without any argument for the inevitability of the event in question.

Right, and I wouldn't like it if you were president either. Witch hunts always turn bloody.

    - - - Updated - - -

Oh, it's not a fallacy. How many people who dislike "illegal immigrants" also dislike "immigrants"? I know of at least two. My parents.

Trump clearly has the right to deny sanctuary cities federal funding as they are in violation of federal law by harboring ILLEGAL ALIENS.

With regard to Chicago, yes someone needs to do something about the violence but it's not the fed govt's place to do so. It's up to the city of Chicago and state of IL. It is a worrying sign that he thinks he can use the fed gov to do whatever strikes his fancy.

Can you imagine if President Obama had announced the intention to declare martial law?

The right-wingers would've popped their corks. Now we have President Twitler running as fast as he can through the 14 Points of Fascism, and they think it's peachy-keen. SAD!

I don't get why democrats make sanctuary cities a big issue. These cities are clearly wrong. These people are not war refugees. They are economic refugees that skip the refugee processes. Why not make the US a country without borders? Oh wait that would be crazy wouldn't it? So how is it not crazy to allow whoever you want in the country and give them jobs and government papers?

Next time you come to my state, I'm requiring a visa.

It's frankly all BS. Republicans want to build nations in the middle east and shun Mexicans. What the (*)(*)(*)(*)?
