I'm sure you saw the young white lady in Idaho who said her main purpose in life was to shut other white people up. That kind of crap isn't going get Democrats elected dog catcher much less president of the country.

FYI - I've been a big supporter of PBS. I've worked the phones many times during pledge drives and have donated artwork.
Nova would easily be picked up by one of many networks wanting to carry it. (as would Sesame Street, Nova, Frontline, Austin City Limits, Antiques Roadshow, Masterpiece Theatre - I bet they'd even show re-runs of Reading Rainbow)

I supported PBS but the reasons it was created no longer exist. The shows can stand on their own and don't need our tax dollars to survive.

As for museums: been to many - off the top of my head:
The de Young in SF - (got to see the King Tutt exhibit when it was in the USA)
National Museum of American History in DC - (I could spend weeks there)
Air & Space (a must if you visit DC)
Holocaust Museum (don't go if you don't want to cry)
National Archives - (Constitution and Declaration)
The Picasso Museum and Sagrada Famillia in Barcelona Spain. (Gaudi is one of my favorite artists/architects)
the Dali in St. Petersburg FL (hauntingly strange)
Field Museum - Chicago (dinosaurs, etc)
Guggenheim in NY - where the building itself is art
the Crazy Horse Indian Museum of North America. (the wife is half Native American)
Before I changed majors, I was an art student. Even had one of my abstracts on display in Pasadena.

But, I must admit I've never been to Dollywood. How was it?

It was an interview with a person who had nothing to do with NPR or PBS!

    How about this excerpt;

Ayers didn't speak to the press during the campaign. But now that it's over, we asked him to tell us about his experiences during the campaign, his relationship with Obama, and to explain his radical past and what motivated his actions.

    Get a grip...

    The 'low information crowd'.

    That never stops being funny.

Have you view the so call history channel or the Discovery channel in the last few years .both are a fine example of market driven forces going for the least common denominator.

Let see aliens among us,ice road truckers, moon shining,in search of monsters such as river monsters, an attack on the good character and name of the Amish and so on.

The so call history channel needed to end it feedback section of it website due to the comments by outrage viewers.

I don't want my tax dollars spent on somebody else's sense of "taste". If enough high brow people want particular programming, I'm sure the free marketplace will fill the void. If not, the void might not be as expansive as some people fear.
(are we saying the government is the best arbiter of good taste?)

An I do not wish to keep living in a nation where the average understanding of history.economic, science and government in the population is so low that men such as Trump and in the future perhaps worst men can be elected into the presidency.

For a republic to function there have to be a minimum level of citizens understanding of the world.

In my opinion the cost of Trump being president for 4 years alone is likely to be hundreds of time more then the cost of funding public TV and radio for the next 20 years.

How can you defend taxpayer money going to two networks so slanted to the left? If taxpayer money was going to Rush Limbaugh, you'd have a stroke.

Hmm, so a source usually associated with a left-wing bias is also a far-right 'Nazi Propaganda Repository'? You haven't actually thought this through, have you?

Nor do they. They're a continuing source of amusement for those of us capable of rational thought.

Every time I turn on NPR, they're talking about Watergate.

I think Nazis may have been socialists in the beginning. National Socialists who shortened it to just Nazis and off they went.

Clueless. What if they called themselves the 'Fluffy Bunny Club', would the results of their policies be any less fascist?

Ok Nazis weren't socialists if you insist. What about Fidel and Che and Chairman Mao and Pol Pot?

If that's your opinion then feel free to send NPR your money but don't demand I do

The show is about promoting BOOKS.

Lynne had just published a BOOK.

The interview was supposed to be about the BOOK.

    Not her daughter.

IMO the clue is you are incapable of just accepting information without forcing a political slant on it...

It's an interview! All the questions were pertinent. The reason Cheney was on the program was to promote a book...NPR was doing an interview which included her book and other topical issues...big damned deal...
